Hey, Has anyone started using Icenhancer 2.0n yet. I downloaded it on my system and damn is it good! However I also downloaded a few car packs and to fix a bug where only taxis appear I have had to turn to another mod to correctly load the traffic and with only 4gbs of Ram it has become totally unplayable. Think I'll get another 4gb on Friday when I get paid. I guess I'm just looking for a little discussion about this mod, and as I'm new to game modding really any tips, tricks or tweaks to make it look even better would be awesome!
It's pretty epic actually. Turn off motion blur and enable SSAO and ambient occlusion in the settings does wonders. Also there's still that weird red Sky Bug, but outside of that, the game is fantastic. Also turn off that useless DoF since it's buggy.
I'll probably give it a quick go tonight. Have you played around with the sprites? Or did you just leave them alone? I probably won't touch them at the moment.
Downloading this now, as I've been back on GTA IV quite a bit lately. Am I right in thinking that this would only make the game more difficult to run, or does it also do optimizations of some kind?
Is it an all in one install now? The previous versions were a pain to install and I CBA I agree, the visuals are stunning!
Nah it's not in one install, there are six folder that you have to copy and paste over in to various folders in your GTA IV install folders, it's a bit of a ball ache but totally worth it.
Mine just crashes after I put it on. Downgraded to 1040 and it loads up. This is on Steam BTW - I followed a guide to downgrade it correctly. Will **** around with it later when I could be ****ed.
Did you make sure that you right clicked GTA IV in your library and selected the tab updates and chose "do not automatically update this game"? I had this problem at first, kept updating to 1.0.07 without me realizing!
Got it figured out now. Had a search around and people recommend to close MSI afterburner or other similar apps. It doesn't like OSDs. I have EVGA precision which was causing the crash. Cheers.
Yeah it does work with steam, but what you wanna do is got to your library and right click GTA IV, then go to the updates tab and select do not "do not automatically update this game" then go to http://www.fileplanet.com/221298/220000/fileinfo/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch-v1.0.4.0 and download the patch then you'll be fine
You just have to copy most of the icenhancer files into steam/steamapps/common/Grand Theft Auto IV/GTAIV folder, just go through 1 to 6 and choose your preferable AA from 2. and all the file folders have dedicated instructions so it should be plain sailing from here. Let me know how you get on
Ive got the mod installed, but all the text from the menus is missung . Im starting from scratch no, with a fresh install. Any good step by step guides about? Il try not to break this one
Ahhh in fact that happened to me, what you need to do is download a font mod, really quick and easy, http://www.fileplanet.com/221303/220000/fileinfo/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV---Fonts-Mod The readme should say where to put the files, I can't quite remember
A pint of beer to the first person who writes an idiot's guide on how to install the mod(s) on an up-to-date Steam version of the game. Over to you CoffeeTwoSugars. Any other takers? As an aside, a lot of people may be missing out on some great mods with various games because they don't know what's out there - or more importantly how to install them. I've often dreamed of creating a sticky on this very topic with how tos for various games. Er, but with a lack of skill beyond "click to install", that's not going to be happening from me. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete mods have got to be the easiest ever, closely followed by Skyrim.
Right. That fixed the fonts. thank you But now after about 2 mins of play the camera starts going mental and waving around everywhere. Very off putting! Ever heard of that>?
I do remember getting the weird camera thing before, but it was due to installing a scripthook and asi loader after Icenhancer, to fix i had to start over form my backup and install the scripthook and asi loader first, no idea why it worked like that I'll try and write out a guide this evening, gonna do a bit of work on my dissertation first, priorities you know, but i'll try and have one done by tonight or tomorrow morning.
