Hi guys I need a new GPU. My brother's 8800GT has cooked itself. It now needs the case opened and an industrial strength fan pointing at it to keep it cool enough to not go rainbow dancing.... I guess for him thats good news lol cos he gets to have an upgrade. He has an ASUS P5KC mobo with 4GIG ram and a Q6600 G0. Runs Win 7. I was thinking of a GTX 560ti. LIKE THIS. Any thoughts folks? Thanks in advance! EDIT: AT least I think its the GPU.....computer runs fine like normal with fan pointed at the MOBO. I don't believe its anything else.
That's not too much of an issue. The 560ti is a good card and for that price I know it delivers great performance for buck. If I had to say a budget than not much more than £200.
Didn't think of that. But...I think an upgrade makes sense for him. His CPU is still pretty good and I have yet to actually overclock it for him. He gets a pretty decent card so win-win. The only question I had was given that the GTX 560 is at £130 or so....whether the ti was worth the investment, and also to clarify compatability for the motherboard as I couldn't make sure for certain.
Get a refund! If I can successfully contest a faulty XBOX 360 after 3 years of use I'm sure a 8800GT is worth a go!
Yes the Ti is definitely worth it. And I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on the mobo as long as it's got PCIe
