Hi guys, I know these are both excellent panels, but my dilemma here is the price difference: The U22 is £173 at Scan. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/215-dell-ultrasharp-u2212hm-led-ips-monitor-dvi-dhdcpvgadp-usb-black While the U23 is £182. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-d...splayport-1920x1080-10001-300cd-m2-4-port-usb So with that little difference between them, what's my best buy?
Yep, as I have own the 2212HM I would go for the 2312 as the 1.5" makes a big difference in screen size when I compared it to the LG ips231p-bn.
Yep, that's my other question: What's The Dell U2312HM Like Compared To The LG IPS225V- BN? I know the LG panel is 1" smaller, but it's much cheaper, at £126 compared to £183, and it would be nice to have a little cash left over for a couple of other things, so, can you once again persuade me the right way?
In terms of features, the LG IPS225V- BN has: -> None adjustable stand -> Glossy frame and stand -> No DisplayPort I am anti-glossy anything, so I would go with the Dell, just for that fact. Plus I see as an an adjustable stand as a must for a monitor.
Alternate; Buy the LG, get one of the ScanFX stands. Height, rotate and turn adjustment. Plus you can just bolt a new screen on there a while down the line. (It only comes to about £150~ with the stand and the LG, too!)
I didn't know the frame of it was glossy, I thought it was matte brushed alu. The only time I've seen it look glossy is in a flash photo of the monitor.
Maybe we are looking at different monitors. This is the one I am looking at: http://www.lg.com/in/computer-products/led-monitor/LG-IPS225V.jsp
I don't think that's got a glossy bezel. Look at the other LED monitors on LG's website and you will see what their glossy ones look like. Ie this one looks glossy http://www.lg.com/in/computer-products/led-monitor/LG-D2342P.jsp
After looking at some youtube video's, yes you are guys are right, it's not glossy. But the stand is far worse than I expected, looking at open boxing of the monitor. It's a thin peace of plastic with a screw on.. so basically it does nothing. So when you'll tilt the screen the few degree it can, you'll need to hold the stand, else the monitor might slide from the base and fall on the table. Like all cheap screens. You can see that LG did everything they can to cut costs, but staying away from glossy monitor, and provide an descent entry level IPS panels (like the Dell U2312HM and U2412M (not to be confused with the U2410/U2711/U3011)). It seams to have a minor back light issue at the bottom right side though (max brightness): (Cameras usually amplify the problem, especially, so I would not expect such a big impact)
Can I just ask what the 2 actual displays are like compared to eachother? Not counting the stand or frame.
I was unable to find a review of the LG monitor in English. But here is a good review of the Dell U2312HM: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm It is to be noted, that TFT Central conclusions is always showing 3 ups and 3 downs. So the minute things can appear in the 3 "down side of the monitor". So you have to read the whole review, to know if it's an issue. TFTCentral usually review the first revision of the monitor. Dell often has several revision of a monitor where improvements/fixes are made.
Thanks, I know that LG's IPS panels are good, minus the fame and stand on that monitor, so I was wondering how it compares to the U23, because I'd like to save some money.
I posted this in another thread: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=2992013&postcount=4 It's a great screen and at a snip. Worth a look if you don't want to pay much.
