    major bummer dude! :(

I know the roundabout you mean, go through it all the time on the way to the saints. thanks for the heads up about the diesel, am often on my bike going up there and that would be nasty...! i wish more could be done about diesel spills, they are so so dangerous.

Ouch, sounds like a nasty one, totally out of the blue type accident. I had the same in my car at a set of traffic lights not too long ago - it's after a large petrol station that's always filled with wagons, on a 40mph road.

Lights changed, I was doing about 45, plenty of time to stop in normal conditions... As soon as I touched the brakes all 4 wheels locked, I feathered them the rest of the way but there was literally no grip... Must've been nearly 150m by the time I'd stopped, right on the other side of the lights... Luckily they're well sighted and everyone was paying attention. Wandered back over to the other side when the traffic was quiet and it was just a huge diesel spill right from the point where I touched the brakes.

Anyway, the good bit is the last line:
    :thumb: Colour at last!

Yeah - paint at last. :)

I've started a claim with my insurers, and they seem happy enough to let me do the repairs and invoice them - once their engineer has been round to see if my assessment of the damage is correct.

I've already nabbed two BBS alloys of eBay to replace the knackered ones, and I've managed to straighten out the rear bumper and wing stay to the extent that you can't tell they where bent in the first place. They just need re-polishing / painting respectively.

I've also been in contact with a fellow owner who is still yonks away from IVA, and he's kindly offered the loan of his front suspension to get Vikki back on the road sooner rather than later. Totally out of the blue, unasked for and just amazing - that's the kit-car fraternity for you. :)

That's a terrible setback goo, at least it's repairable, thank goodness.

    FTFY ;)

Also GOO - it pains me to do this, but *persuaded, *thorough, *were. A man that can not only spell 'escutcheons' correctly, but also describe them, deserves a better Spell Check. Were you tired after the unbelievable amount of work you've done on Vikki, by any chance? The undressed photos are brutal - just as a quick question, are the body panels stressed/load-bearing at all?

No, not tired - just my mind going quicker than I can type!

I shall amend the post to cater for you lot with hyper sensitive spell correction-itus. ;)

As for the bodywork - no, none of it is load bearing. The chassis does all if that.

That looks like a lot of fun! £15 for the plans seems a bit steep, but the other parts are pretty reasonable.

Nice work, love the casual fab work on that suspension pickup. :D

I read all the way through without even clocking that the bodywork wasn't there! I'd assumed you'd send the whole car down, rather than risk flexy panels cracking the shiny paintwork.

That was the way that Normandale (the paint shop) wanted it - they didn't want to have to puzzle out how to strip the chassis, when I knew how to... Plus it left me with the chassis to complete the repairs

I don't think there'll be too much of a problem with the bodywork. It'll be delivered in a nice big van, all bundled up in foam wrap - and they're used to handling stuff like this.
