I don't have a problem with the force of the feedback here at all, to be clear. And by all means, send it my way. I've been very careful not to make false promises, and this was the first time, I think, I've said something that's proven not to be true. It is, as I understand, an error that's resulting in the ad appearing lots of times. I'm digging for more detail now as to what's going on. Simon
I also get this full page ebay advert, didn't think I'd gone to bit-tech first time since I thought it was so ridiculous.
just adding my name to the list, got this earlier, not going to remove my whitelisting for btech yet but it made think about it...
Yeah.... That fullscreen ebay advert? No thanks. IF it wasn't for being at work on a corp. PC I would have instantly thought it was spyware, especialy considering that there was no ebay skimlinks or ads on the page that had just loaded (the Game one). When I wake up tomorrow I'm adding bit-tech to my ad block list on my home PC. I've had enough of the adverts getting ever more in your face.
And again, its becoming more frequent! Also, it may not be the bit-tech staff themselves, but as a part of Dennis is it their responsibility to try and sort it out.
I've had this appear for the last two days at work (IE8 no adblock), please please get rid of this thing. It's seriously annoying.
This sh*t is doing my head in, not only do I get the ebay crap 3 or 4 time everytime I try to read an article now I'm getting this bollox.. I had to crash my browser to get rid if it. Really makes me just want not to come on bit-tech any more !!!!
I've just had confirmation that this advertising campaign is being stopped, while the technical problems - it repeating so often, basically - are fixed. If you keep getting it reappearing, please let me know. Simon
I would hazard a guess that looking at the number of people who have replied it being continually affecting them within one hour previous of your post Simon, that it hasn't been stopped.
5 times I've had it in as many days. I think I might be getting hold of AdBlock now. I don't mind adverts usually, but this one it taking the Micheal.
I get once or twice on the main page per browsing session. If I open and close FireFox and visit the main page again, I generally see it again. However, it doesn't particularly bother me and I certainly won't be blocking anything.
I have just had the eBay ad for the first time. Yes, it was annoying. But I clicked on close and continued with my day. If it happens again I'll just remove BT from my AdBlock whitelist for a few days in silent protest. I don't know how much revenue these hijacking ads generate but they are undeniably intrusive and I haven't actually come across that many of them elsewhere on the web. I'm afraid that websites need to earn their place on my whitelist, and this site normally does, but let's keep things sensible with the ads Dennis marketing team.
