My GTX 460 Cyclone has served me well for nearly 2 years now, and I'll be very sad to see it go bye bye, but the fan is in terrible shape, a blade got snapped off after an unspecified someone (might be me :worried:) accidentally stuck their finger in it while it was running :wallbash:. So It's finally started properly overheating, and I think the fan has bent the axle or something, because a couple days ago it started vibrating worse than ever before even at minimum fan speed, and I'm afraid of it damaging my hard drives or the PCIe slot or something. I was thinking of this beautiful ZOTAC GTX 560 Ti -448 core, since it comes with BF3 and I've been wanting to get that. Otherwise I would have gone with the $10 cheaper MSI Twin Frozr III version. Maximum budget is around $275, hoping to purchase from Newegg.com

    Zotac: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500231

    MSI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127615

EDIT: The special bringing it down by about $30 is ending in about 45 minutes, I'm pulling the trigger on the Zotac in 15. Tell me if I'm making a terrible mistake by then!

EDIT2: Bought the ZOTAC after a few review reads. Anyone care to give me a pat on the head and tell me I did good?

Seems like a bargain, how much would that be in £?

Zotac looks good- you sure you can't get a second hand 580 now for that money?

I would've advised buying a second hand 580 or 570 depending on the second hand pricing on the other side of the pond. But you can't argue with the 448 core 560 Ti especially at anything up to 1080 or 1200p. It's a mighty fine card which can go toe to toe with the 570. And once you add in the money you would have spent on BF 3 it's an even better purchase from a value point. Hope it will serve you well.

It's only at 1200p, and my parents who funded this endeavor wouldn't approve buying a second hand card. Also I don't any other marketplaces besides here, and there seems to be no activity on the american section.

In GBP, the price would be 170, after rebate 157. I figure I'll overclock it a bit to match a 570, maybe even reapply the thermal paste if I'm feeling adventurous. Unfortunately my 460 is just giving me terribly disturbing noises and vibrations, and I wanted to get it out of my system ASAP. I don't have any spare GPU's laying around that actually work.

I don't have the budget and I don't need a giant brick spewing heat and sucking power while idling when I play my most demanding games at 1200p. Completely overkill and troll suggestion.

    It's not a giant brick. It's a small brick.

All I did was suggest a 680 which I intend to purchase myself when I have enough money.

The small brick comment was a lighthearted response.

Hardly justification for getting into an extreme rage.

I have reported you also for extremely aggressive behaviour and over-reacting.

It's pretty good with regards to temps and energy usage. Granted the power draw isn't as low as a 560ti, but the temps are better.

Actually, the TDP of GTX 680 is 195W and GTX 560 Ti-448 is 210W, so the new cards are more power efficient than the one the OP bought. That doesn't mean Feathers is right to mention it in every partly related thread though, I'm sure anyone who can afford one has already read about them.

... nevermind, didn't see you already purchased.

I would replace the cooler on the 460 and hold out for 660 release.

    Will do.

After all, if the guy wants earbuds or headphones he needs a 680 to go with it.

I think I'll quietly abandon this thread to die now.
