I loved Ridge Racer 7 (on Ps3). I will definitely be getting this, the whole no-physics drifting just entertains me.

... unexpected... 85%... I'll give this game a look then, I thought that this would just be a cash cow for Namco, and a game that didn't bring any interesting thing...
If it's on Steam, I'll buy it when the price goes down :D

I'm surprised this got a positive review, thought the trailers for it were a bit naff tbh! Last RR game I played was on the PSP I think which I enjoyed a lot, although not as much as my all time favourite RR Type 4 ages ago. May have to give this one a try then :)

I haven't played a Ridge Racer since Ridge Racer Revolution in High School. I'll never forget dancing about at 1AM after beating the White Angel Car to complete the game :-D

It was reviewed for 360, so unless anyone on the forum owns it?

Are the opponent cars still made of rubber like in the older games? Granted I haven't played a Ridge Racer since Type 4, but the rubber opponent car mechanic seriously put me off future RR games...

Also, do the opponents still have slingshot starts while you have treacle start or has RR grown out of that hideously awful arcade habit?

    @ChaosDefinesOrder

There is a bit of the slingshot start effect, but after a couple of well-taken corners you can boost and catch up. The best thing is there's no obvious rubber-banding - you either keep up or get left behind.

Pah, this is the only RR (although this guy is a chump, it's all about the yellow Lamborghini/Ferrari rip-off):

This has it ruined for me. Do games developers not understand how a turbo works? Presumably not. At least 'nitrous boost' would actually make sense.

A few of the people I know who have this game say they have a lot of issues - game crashing, lock ups, editor not working.

Will be waiting for Steam Sale OR patch for this one.

They might know, but does the average player? Turbo, Boost, Nitro... who cares as long as it makes you go more vrrrm vrrrm?

Kind of interested, everywhere seems to be confirming it as pretty awesome but PC version sounds a bit iffy after looking at various forums so I'll hold out for more solid news on the PC version.

I've been playing the pc version for a couple days now

    My Thoughts:
    No options menu while paused
Drifting is a PITA compared to other games (I WAS hitting the drift button WTF!)
The only graphic settings you can change are resolution and aspect ratio
You are limited to keyboard or 360 pad for controls, not able to customize button mapping
    Graphics look pretty good
Crashing guarantees you last place (see drift button)

The game is completely different from the others in the series, it might as well be a different name on it
