https://www.facebook.com/NVIDIAGeForce Apparently they are due to announce something!! Harry Butler posted via twitter the same link And yes another GTX 6## Series Thread!
Interesting, logic would dictate it should be a gtx 670, unless they decide to do something higher end than the 680, in which case I have money on stand by and also by higher end I don't mean dual GPU.
i reckon they are getting into motherboards, that pic looks like a CPU clamp with pins in the background
It won't be bigger than the 680. That would annoy a lot of people. Unless it's a dual core. Perhaps it's a nude patch for the Nalu demo.
When I went to Gadget Show Live last weekend, there was a Scan stall and a guy from PNY was there. I asked him about the rest of the Kepler line up, and he said that we'll have the 640 by the end of the month, then the 650, 660, 670 after that and then the Ti versions, so I guess this'll be the 640 announcement.
Maxwell is far away... GK110 will be a chip release in between the the GTX 600 and Maxwell, that is my guess. So it will be probably the mid range.
I don't think it will be anything above the 680, however it's an awfully cryptic and ominous sign that they have made and personally I'd only do that for a very high end part. What ever it is, Nvidia have done well to keep the rumour mill quiet until now.
Looking at what nvidia have done in the past they tend to reserve this kind of hype for they're mega flagship products, 9800GX2, 295, 590. So by that metric it would be a 690, which if it is will be an awesome card given how efficient the 680's core is and how most of the past problems with the twin cards is getting the heat low enough andthe clocks high enough to really get the performance out of it. On the other hand though twin GPU cards usually launch a few months after the single gpu it's based on, but likewise the single gpu tends to launch with it's one down partner (580/570,480/470,280/260,8800GTX/8800GTS640) so there's nothing normal about this launch pattern. Something is afoot...
Actually come to think about it, and looking at the picture more closely, I think it's the GTX 690 (dual GPU). The reason I am thinking of this, is because the image looks like a heasink plastic cover, and the dual GPU's has been having recently flat heatsink design, which is what the picture suggests. If not, then Nvidia is changing direction and now making scanners.
