Got it now (Sensation XE+O2), It's slow, buggy, apps crash etc etc Don't upgrade inless you can put up with it
Right - using the samsung FOTA ive got it updated to: Andriod 2.3.5. Its now saying that there are no more updates though, so whats next? I still cant get it to connect to PC via USB. Only kies wifi
On ebay there's many services offered where people can update your phone to the latest OS for a very reasonable fee. Hard to get good guides these days though because ebay doesnt allotw them anymore because theres too much copyright infringement happening.
That was dead easy Kies air done it all for me. ICS seems quite snappy. My only moan is that all the junk I got rid of before is back to I'm going to have a mass deletion again..Oh well can't moan really.
I have 3 usb to micro usb cables from various devices and I couldn't get the 2.3.4 update on my S2 to work... ... until I used the short USB cable that came with the phone. It isn't a very technical solution. It may have been coincidence. However, it worked. If you haven't already, give it a go.
You need to install Keis onto your system. Download Here Once installed plug your phone in via USB. Launch Keis and it should detect an update rather quickly. It should be none destructive so you wont lose anything from your memory card or phone itself though with most things synced to email etc it's easy to get back. Worked a treat for me!
Thanks dom but I'm not sure you picked up on my problem. I can't connect the phone via USB anymore. Its stopped working, and doesnt detect that anything has been plugged in. its been driving me mad!! I've tried unplugging the sd card, tried it on different pcs etc. No joy. I don't have any other cables to try with though. I'm not using the original one but I am using one that has worked in the past.
Original Thread: http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/6544-S2-USB-Connection-Problem/page3 ON YOUR S2 OPEN THE DIALER AN TYPE IN.... *#7284# you will see ... UART MODEM PDA USB MODEM PDA UNDER USB (if it already selected) to PDA Click MODEM then RESELECT (CLICK) PDA ONLY repeat "ONLY" Change the USB SETTING Then press Back. Now try connecting via USB............Should Work.....
Thanks Murray, I'm not home till after 7pm but I can't wait to try this. If it works il be so pleased mate Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Ok so, im afraid it didnt make any difference. Ive also tried different cables including the stock one. The thing just wont get recognised on any PC. Loads of stuff on the net, but everyone seems to be fixed by using the fixes ive already tried....they dont work for me!
One stupid question - are you using front USB2/USB3 or back USB3 connectors on your case/motherboard ?
Yes bud all you have to do is take some form of proof of purchase, remember you have a two warranty with a Samsung
I tried updating through Kies on my Galaxy SII, but it kept failing. I had already rooted my phone prior so this may be the reason. In the end I just installed Oxygen onto the phone, as the ICS update still has the TouchJizz interface, which I don't like (as you can probably tell). If you're running a rooted phone, I would definitely recommend Oxygen, as it is pretty much stock Android, and it has a few options built in the settings menu (for overclocking and other neat things). It's an early build but I haven't run into any bugs so far (others have though, but this is early dev build, so only for those who like to mess with things ). http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=2369&p=1
