It's sunny (dare I say it) and warm here in Central London today. Quickly, someone make another sacrifice to the Sun God, to appease them!
Flooding 200m away from me on Thursday. Fortunately that 200m is accompanied by a 30m elevation change.
If we're in a drought, why was there an inch and a half of water in my passenger footwell this morning?
We desperately need the water in the South. Since the Privatisation of water control and the ancient piping being used in areas like London, the south is haemorrhaging water daily. Quite sad really.
Glorious sunshine where I live today so I went for a bike ride along side the canal, the water is almost overflowing in parts.
Link to the ITV program It was "Tonight" not "Britain is running dry" I saw a bright shiny thing in the sky once, but then they beamed me aboard. I can't tell you anything else about it, and you wouldn't believe me if I could!
I leave in an area with a hose pipe ban and god damn its never rained so much...the news reports today are that April has been the wettest in 100yrs.... Whats wrong with this country?
I think we over complicate things in this country I live on the border with wales yet my water comes from United Utilities Liverpool instead of about 10 miles down the road from wales its plain stupidity. Now the romans knew how to do things..
Well I was alluding more to using gravity more often, however some of the solution may be more use of rain water harvesting in peoples homes etc.
the thing that has always confused me with our use of water is why do we use drinking water to flush the toilet??? seems stupid. i can't even imagine how much water i wasted for this reason.
I only flush the toilet when the water has turned an interesting shade of yellow/orange and smells like industrial chemicals. A dual flush system would be better perhaps...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17875456 One really wet month doesn't make up for two years of really dry months.
This was touched on in the documentary I linked to, they showed a home that had retro-fitted a big tank under their garden that they then use to water the garden, flush the toilets, I think they may have said showering too, although I may not have that quite right. Ideally I think every home should be kitted out this way, especially new builds, that coupled with ground source heat pumps and solar panels to heat water would surely go a long way to combat the issues that the country will eventually find itself in in a few years.
