I'd like to see an air cooled, short pcb one :). A 170mm air-cooled GTX670 would be pure win

I think the issue is the cooler. They'd have to either make it a very thin heatsink, which would impair performance, or make it three slots wide.

On the flipside; that would be awesome, but the current design of hanging the fan out the arse-end of the card does seem to work well, gives it External Exhaust, too, so it'd be awesome in cases like my Raven.

My sentiment exactly... except I'm waiting for a 4GB with a decent cooler (so tempted to pre-order the EVGA 4GB SuperClock)

Now if only i had the money to get in on the madness, make my Loldozer machine a heck more powerful with the addition of two of those wee beasties.

cooler > 4gb for me now.

I have decided that although 2gb but not have much headroom, there is enough. and it really doesn't hit the fps much.

also, all of the tests where 2gb isn't enough have been done on 2560x1650. mine is only 1440p so that will help too.

    2560 by 1650? That's a new one. i thought it was 2560x1600, whereas you're at 2560x1440.

It's a fair difference, but you'll probably hit the Vram cap eventually. The only thing holding the 2GB limit in place, AFAIK, is the Drivers. 4GB cards may need some custom drivers that dramatically increase ram usage, but also increase game performance (Or just reduce slowdown), because it can cache more, or something similar.

It shouldn't be that hard. Make a full cover heatsink that covers all the ram(which would be on one side not 2) and vrm's and a vapour chamber over the gpu, cover the whole thing in fins and a low profile fan on top.

From what I've read, copper is a better coductor of heat but aluminium is better at transfering the heat, which is why most hsf's have copper heatpipes but alu fins. So what they could do is make the block from copper but then coat the top with the fins on in alu.

I should really be working in r&d. Lol

The Asus has an awesome cooler. is quiet and I game @ 1080p, so no need to hang on for the 4GB model.
My Be Quiet 630W PSU just arrived to complete my quietened down world.

5760x1200 plus a 1920x1080 "accessory" display... my reason for waiting for the 4GB card.

Once GPU supply is steady enough for asus to start binning Dies, probably. They've probably already started, but they need a certain amount before they release or else they'll just be on back-order all the time.
