Like Zinf the streaming is crap, Virgin must have a deal with speedtest that always lies about your connection.

It's not that, Virgin throttle the speed from popular sites, like YouTube, iPlayer (and the ITV and Channel 4 equivalents), Steam and so on. This wasn't always the way, but they now have traffic shaping and management policies across all their tarriffs, so when Infinity reaches this area, I'll be changing.

Sky 0.8km as the crow flies from the exchange.
    Price £10 a month + line rental

@lancer778544 - your noise margin on your downstream seems quite low. I believe sky aim for around 7.0 for stability. I would guess at that being what is causing your issue as I have similar results when sky's DLM sync's my line too fast.

PS: The recent weather seems to been wrecking havoc with my noise margins as well.

That doesn't show how truly borked my connection is at the second. How about we take a look at the little performance graph Speedtest formulates while it's running?

What the hell, BT. What the hell.

Amusingly; it claimed that I hit 133 odd Mb/s down during one of those spikes.

Shame BT's basically top Broadband plan doesn't even seem to be capable of hitting the desired levels of stability.

Thanks for the info. I was running a BT Business Hub for a little while and that managed to knock the SNR down to about 1.9. The amount of errors that was racking up was unbelievable... The spare D834GT I've got plugged in now has settled everything down and the SNR is now around 7.4. I just couldn't understand why I was getting such slow speeds around the same time every night. I'd have to reboot the router everytime and the stats pretty much stayed the same before and after the reboot as you can see but now that the D834GT has been running a few weeks, I haven't needed to reboot it.
