Go hard chrome, it'll be easier to keep up. Nickel can tarnish as well, and it's another layer to make sure there are no impingement corrosion issues. (They found impingement corrosion was an issue in some of the EK failures, though it wasn't the entire issue.)
I missed this yesterday, at last a beauty is born. Bet your face was something like this while unpacking it all, I know mine would have been.
So do I Sir Thanks for the advise KayinBlack! (And the PM's ) Would you believe me if I said I was too scared to unpack? Thanks Waynio! Thanks a lot guys! Maybe later Thanks a lot m8!
Copper part has been sent to the nickel plater. So curious how it will look! Meantime. Highflow sent me 3 'Cpu lapping kits' to try polishing the POM part. (Hopefully this will succeed ) Thanks Freddy! I was looking for O-rings for a while to seal the block. Luckily Skiryl had some left from a previous project! The 'Inspired by' logo was grey anodised aluminum. Now I think it should look like the nickel and fittings. So lets polish When I got an hour left next week I will polish the last scratches out.
Omg Peter! Omg omg omg! That solves my oring-search! Where did you get this and is there 1mm-1,3mm thick orings ? One problem thow, how will that oring hold from the presure then ? I have heard some baad thing with custommade oring thow :/ Edit: I found exactly what i was searching for !
I can believe that was it fear of it not being in ok shape or not fitting the GPU like a glove like it does?. Was some really good teamwork between you & mr3d & quepee, you for measuring everything right & choosing to keep something Asus ROG about it without the need for words, mr3d for inputting the right dimensions in the design & making it that bit more awesome & quepee for doing an excellent job of the machining, very good stuff showing absolutely no compromise. Awesome look forward to seeing it, should be amazing. How do you fix the o ring together perfectly when you have it cut to spec?.
i'm slightly saddened by the loss of the coppery glory. could it not have been sealed with a clear coat of lacquer? however if all the fittings are also nickel, it would be slightly out of place. i just get a bit of pants-tent for copper
But I agree it would have looked sweet if all the other parts was nicely finished copper also but with most the other parts being nickel plated it will look right.
Answered you PM on FB, guess you found something? Well I got no clue how it will hold lol, it's my first WB too I actually got no clue When I got the package I just had it packed on the table for 2 hours, when I unpacked it I just stared at it for half an hour while drinking coffee ... really weird You mean when you place the O-ring on one side and getting the other half on it? Place the beginning of the O-ring (Maybe with some water), then just shove the part over the other part in the length. I do like (polished) copper like any watercooling enthusiast here, however I just have to go with the color scheme I'm actually nickel plating it so I know the copper will always be shining behind that layer
I'm loving this build, so many amazing one off parts and it going to be another epic. can't wait to see it all going together.
I have 3 of these arriving at work this week. i may have to take a change of underwear..... like a magpie, i'm a fan of all things shiny and i'm sure it will look phenominominomal. pure modding pron!
you sent it to the platers without going with it ... you had it and you let it go! a hard task to let it out of your sights ! Sure it will look great when jobs done.
Thanks bulldogjeff! There are parts in this build I will also do once in my life Yes I'm some how addicted to bling bling too. Maybe I was a crow in a previous life Always thought about doing a copper build, never did it. GO Crapman I'm totally satisfied with the result RedManc. It seriously was hard to send it away again -------------------------------------- Sorry, just a teaser this time Need some more time for testing/fitting. Already had to adjust the backplate 'a bit' cause of a small miscalculation. Very glad I decided to nickelplate it
