LOL What was your best and most memorable toy when growing up?

Fond memories...

Winding back the years a little further, I remember thoroughly enjoying the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle toy.

 

I had the Grifter's baby brother the Boxer, it was a hand me down from my much older cousin. It had the most comfortable saddle.

 

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I instanly thought of Manta Force. Open it up and what do you know.

 

Oh I had this as well. Only after watching the video did I realise cos mine was a different colour and brand but the game was the same.

 

Without trying to sound like I was hard done by as a child (because I wasn't particularly) my favourite playthings as a child were a really old farmyard set and a jumble sale sack of assorted LEGO*.

The farmyard set was properly old - like lead paint old - and the animals were all different scales but they were faithful reproductions not "toy" like. But it was ace. It had two tractors and modular fences and everything.

The LEGO* was just an old potato sack of standard blocks of all shapes, colours and sizes with a few bases and figures thrown in, but imagination was the only limit in those days.

I've been calling it Lego, either singularly or Plurally, for ages. I just can't be asked to hold down shift for the extra three letters. Lego it shall remain.

Ah yes, the Frog. I had an RC10 myself, and I recall spending many hours driving my little car around. I think a lot of the satisfaction I got with my RC car was the fact that I had to actually build it first, as opposed to just buying one from the toy store. Building it from the ground up made me more aware of how everything worked together, plus it made customization easier and more fun.

Funny enough, this is yet another of my old toys that I've recently brought back out, although I haven't turned it on yet. One of these days I'll build a new battery pack for it.

 

I had all the sets in this pic. They were my favorite, and I used to keep my instruction manuals in a ring binder.

I started with the helicopter thing at about 5.

 

Didn't have many toys as a kid but this was Awesome.

Hell ya! Started with Duplo, moved to Lego, then Technic - which I still build. Due to the cost though, These days I can only get the big designs for Christmas/Birthday.

My Mom still laughs at me (in a nice way) cause I'm 28 and still asking for Technic for Christmas!

 

Curbie is an excellent game. To many cars nowadays though.

This was my favourite model... I saved up for years and bought it from John Menzies for £55 in 1992.



Still have all my lego up in the attic, boxes and boxes of the stuff. I need a good excuse to take them out lol...

LEGO* actually sucks nowadays IMO... it was best in the 90s when you actually had to build stuff and use your brains.

I spent many days staying at a littlewoods magazine wanting this.

 

My uncle (pete) bought me that for my 5th birthday. I didn't manage to build it until I was 8. Did it myself and I was really proud.

Did you try building the combine harvester?

Has anyone else tried trawling Ebay for lego? You can get some great items.

 

My radio flyer toy wagon, it was a racing car, a spaceship, a firefighter truck, a boat, it was red and so cool.... Until my uncle ran on it with a real truck T.T
