Here are some interesting numbers to look at! (*1997)
166,875,000,000 pieces of mail are delivered each year in the U.S!
1,525,000,000 miles of telephone wire a strung across the U.S!
123,000,000 cars are being driven down the U.S's highways!
85,000,000 tons of paper are used each year in the U.S!
56,000,000 people go to Major League baseball each year!

West Virginia, one can't cook sauerkraut or cabbage due to the odors and the offence is subject to imprisonment.

In Missouri, a man must have a permit to shave.

The law states that more than 3000 sheep cannot be herded down Hollywood Blvd. at any one time.

It is an executable offense to allow your pet to mate with a pet of the royal house without permission.

The phrase “rule of thumb” is derived from an old English law which stated that you couldn’t beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb

Adopted from the English. The English were in turn introduced to it by the French.

The French rode stallions and had tournaments when the English were still using small ponies.

The French were famous for their Knights.

    ...

High altitude oxygen used for high altitude climbing was known as English air, when introduced.

The rule of thumb is still in effect here in my hometown. It's still being cited as a defense too.

Originally, the only indefinite article was "a". The words that we now think start with a vowel actually started with an "n" (a nuncle, a norange and so on). Over time, the n has migrated from the start of the word to the end of the article.
Not true. There is no such law, mainly because such a law would be unenforceable (how can you arrest and charge a dead person?). There is a rule that anybody that dies in a royal palace is accorded a state funeral, meaning that people close to death can be bundled out of the Houses of Parliament before they die - but they're not arrested if they die before they leave.

Alaska law says that you can't look at a moose from an airplane.

In Illinois, the law is that a car must be driven with the steering wheel.

In Memphis, Tennessee, a woman is not to drive a car unless a man warns approaching motorists or pedestrians by walking in front of the car that is being driven.

Even though being the sovereign of The United Kingdom, Her Majesty the Queen is not allowed to enter the City of London with seeking the permission of its Lord Mayor

In York, excluding Sundays, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow

Most of the components in my sig computer "ModCron" were either components headed for the dumpster, or were generous donations by three other people: TGS, my IT teacher, and an IT friend. The rest were bought at the local DI, a thrift store.

Most people can guess my religion within a few hours of talking to me.

There are many laws like this but due to how the legal system works, in the UK at least, they are not always removed through express repeal but implied repeal, that is to say that this law has been repealed by later laws such as the Homecide Act 1957.

Therefore everytime some tells you something is legal because of a certain law they are normally just highlighting their own lack of knowledge about the legal system which exists in their own country.

I am not implying Teelzebub that you do not know this and I understand the humour element involved so please don't take the above as an attack or insult on you.

Actually, he didn't die in a motorcycle accident, he died six days after from complications caused by the head trauma sustained in the accident.

Despite being played by Peter O'Toole in the film, T.E. Lawrence was only 5'4" tall - O'Toole was 6'3"

The Germans called Scottish soldiers "Ladies from hell" and English soldiers "Tommies" during WWI.

Scottish soldiers earned their nickname for wearing kilts into battle.

In Texas, it's against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession.

In Miami, it is forbidden to imitate an animal.

In Kentucky, it's the law that a person must take a bath once a year.

Baby robins eat 14 feet of earthworms every day!

Apples are more efficient than caffeine in keeping people awake in the mornings!

Smelling bananas and/or green apples (smelling, not eating) can help you lose weight!

Hmm random fact of the day...

A law that has not been annulled since 1600 and god-knows-when does not mean you can actually still kill a person with an arrow or..whatever ect.. Those facts are pointless because they are actually worthless, as present day laws are what matter..fact.
