I still don't get the hype. It's just Arma2 but with very restricted gear, no squads, no base building, no town capturing, no tank battles, no gunships, no jets, less pvp, and only one map. Why not? If it wasn't for Arma2 this mod wouldn't exist. I don't get why everyone goes ape of DayZ but doesn't give Arma2 the credit it deserves. And if you have never even played it, why do you say you would never want to play it?
Yes you do! Its an amazing mod. True survival of the fittest. This is what the walking dead game should have been like.
Arma:II is currently £14.99 on Steam right now. Going to buy it and install the mod xD Downloading it now!
Ok, ill give this a try tonight. Only played about 6 hours of ARMA II since i've owned it, so im gonna be such a newbie, if you guys can put up with it. Details on which server, voice chat system etc would be awesome?
My roommate saw me playing and got envious... now we're both playing as a team! Completely changes the game, both for the better and for the worse. It's nice having someone to watch your back and it's a huge help in player vs. player negotiations... within an hour of playing we'd already cornered and killed a lone wolf player. On the other hand I already find myself feeling selfish. I'm a lone wolf type of survivalist and am not used to "sharing" or working with others. I see everything in "what could I have had if he wasn't here" and am making sure that any survival items are mine. He's completely obsessed with getting a car after we found a working one with no gas. I'm just biding my time preparing myself to leave while he keeps hunting for a jerry can. I'm not sure I'll every play Arma 2. I bought the game for the mod, I want to play zombie survival. While Arma may be a fun game it's not a zombie survival game, and therefore not what I want to be playing.
I'm the same. It was fun playing with friends, but when they do something you don't want to (like aggro zombies) you are the one left dealing with it. I just made a little trip to a supermarket as I really want/need a bigger bag, but there wasn't one there. Did manage to get myself a tent though so I shall be making up a little camp.
Or when you aggro a zombie and as you're running for safety they start going Rambo wasting all of their precious AK74 ammo trying to gun down every zombie in northern Elektro. In the end we both ran for the hills anyway and nothing dropped from any of the zombies he killed. 27 AK74 shots down the drain! Meanwhile I'm sitting pretty with 51 Winchester 1866 shells, mostly slugs.
Just to let you guys know, I have PM'd Votick who is the Mumbloe Admin for CPC BF3. I have asked if it is possible for him to setup a channel for DayZ players to use. All Details can be found Here
Do you have any more details? There'd better be somewhere for me to play in a few hours! Then again just the Seattle area seems to have 100+ servers, I can only imagine how many there are across the country.
Currently downloading the game doubt I will get to play it at all tonight. More than likely tomorrow. No word from Votick but he might be busy! I just noticed Arma II Section has been added.
