Put up a price check for one of my Pokers and the Alu case since I'm really tempted by imersas Filco....
And ofcourse I need money to actually pay for a Pure, and some more HDDs

Assuming it's not lazer etched you could try polishing it off with a dremel (and assuming you have a dremel) or perhaps using a solvent.

I suppose that's a tad risky though...

 

Tried many things like this to try and clear letters from my steelseires board. had no job and ended up just getting wound up haha.

Not saying it cant be done just saying it went very badly for me

 

Yeah I get the feeling it could end badly - pick the wrong solvent (or don't dilute it enough) and you risk melting the key.

As a cheap alternative how about sticking something over it - you could take the space from a set like this.

Maybe not that exact set but you get the idea...definitely not this one though

 

I managed to sell one before GH went down, but I have not made/sold anymore. I'd really like to just sell them just on GH, but if it doesn't come back soon, I may have to move to another keyboard site.

If only I need to shift some key sets before buying more!

 

From what I have heard, wood is too difficult to work at with a CNC-machine because it has a tendency to expand and crack when it dries.
So no good for keys I am afraid, unless you want scissor-switches where they can just be glued on top.

Wood composite on the other hand...

I mean, look at that texture.


EDIT: I contacted the company and asked them about the mechanical properties of the material. Let's hope they reply.

 

There are wood keycaps for MX and I know it has been discussed at least 3 times by now. There is someone in Korea that makes them for $1000 a board.

 

Wood really shouldn't crack if it's been properly dried (kiln). CNCing wood also isn't too hard but the biggest concern would be chip outs if the bit hits the grain wrong. The best wood to use would be one with a tight straight grain.

To minimize chip outs, I'd use small bits and light passes with the CNC, especially around the stem. But small bits and light passes mean a long time on the router/mill.

Nice as those wood keys are, at $1000, you can start considering something from datamancer's line-up... I really wish I could get myself one of those...
