You know a band is bad when they have to team up with another crap singer to create another crap song. :(

They used to be decent, recently they've gone towards what's "good" (i.e. the charts).

Coldplay are indeed an awful band.

They seem to have convinced a generation of people who aren't really into music that any song in a minor key which has some whiny lyrics is the epitome of deep, meaningful, and sad.

    Pass the battery acid then...

Mind you, I, a person who quite likes Coldplay - hates the new one with CaribbeanTart (tm)

I can tolerate some of the DJ remixes of their songs but that is about it.

Not really fussed by them, i remeber waiting a festival and they seem now to be claimed "The best British band" which i think is wrong, i mean they have'nt done as much as some british bands have its only paradise which i hear the most.

There's no doubt Coldplay are awful. I always used to say that their drummer had the easiest job in the world (based on a money to skill ratio).

Under normal circumstances they would just be like any other poor band that I'm not interested in. However, my dislike for them is multiplied ten fold by the fact that Chris Martin just has to be such a c0ck all the time.

Oasis is the real thing. I'd rather listen the Goo Goo Dolls then Coldplay.

I'm not really sure Oasis can be compared to Coldplay, can they?

That just happens to be the latest most popular song. There seems to be a new one every year.

I'm just glad Viva la Vida is finally done with. That song makes me want to punch kittens.

Don't care tbh. If people enjoy them and go to their gigs then good luck to 'em. Not metal enough for me to have more than a passing interest, but they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves regardless - so they must be doing something right. My other half loves them though.

I liked them as much as any other stomachable, modern, chart surfing band of the past few years, and would once have rated them up there with the likes of Snow Patrol and Keane, right up to the point they had Rihanna perform a song on their album. As Shirty said, it wasn't much more than a passing interest for me because they're not really performing music that would fit in my main genre. I may have a very diverse taste in music, but I'll always find my way back to rock one way or another. Coldplay don't even deserve to stand in the shadow of Oasis as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, Parachutes had its moments. Rush of Blood to the Head had some really nice tracks on it. I really enjoyed Viva la Vida, so much so that I actually went out and bought it, but they couldn't even get that right - they copied Joe Satriani's masterpiece "If I Could Fly" for the title track... Letting that go, I don't mind the direction that Mylo Xyloto took them in... I think as a progression it's quite artistic and shows their potential to reach out to new fans, but I'm still of the opinion that a band shouldn't change their style to keep up with the times. It's a bit of a sell-out. The whole "Creed" situation of the late 90's/early 00's comes to mind.

Mylo Xyloto isn't a bad album playing in my ears, I can appreciate and enjoy it just fine. I have to say though, as much as I can enjoy the 5 or 6 good tracks on there, the idiot move to work with the biggest superslut the modern music industry has ever produced was the equivalent of several massive nails in the already looming coffin that is my overall attitude towards the band. I refused to buy Mylo Xyloto and the reason was simply because she's on one of the tracks. If I ever had any respect for them as a group of musicians, it was lost the day I learned of that decision.

Meh they are as good as any other manufactured pop band.
