Replaced my spark plugs and changed my coolant yesterday! Spark plugs were easy and I can definitely notice a slight quickening of the revs. Changing the coolant on the other hand was an absolute pig... To get access to the radiator filler cap I had to remove the entire front end! That's right, all the front fairing! Ridiculous... :wallbash: Still, all done now.

Next up, the TPS adjustment. Should get rid of some of the jerkiness at low revs. :)

Certainly was, got some photos and videos from trackside that I'll upload later. Gotta love Brands' hills for some excellent action.

How did I miss this thread :(. I'm 25 in a week but owned a few bikes since I was 16.

I won't bore you with pictures of my scooters I had when I turned 16, but they were the best thing since sliced bread, gave me freedom and I could go further around the island (Jersey).

The main bikes I have owned are...my first "Big Bike" after my RS125.

    RVF 400 (Cracking little bike)

Then upgraded to a GSXR 750 SRAD

Sold that and bought an 99 R6 and put a 2002 undertray/rear lights on it

    Sold the R6 and bought a 2005 ZX6R 636

Decided it was worth too much money as I was scared to ride it half the time given the bad weather we were having.

So I sold the ninja and bought a 96 bandit 1200

What a bike, was hard to keep the front end down, and so easy to work on.

Last bike I owned was my SV1000

Beastly chicken strips given it was on new tyres. I had a 05 GSXR front end ready to go on but I killed the engine :(.

I may get another one day, but when I sold the SV i got a 2004 Civic type R, sold that and bought a 2009 Civic type-R.

Loving the action shot - like the fact that it's on a closed road with no public access :)

Looking at getting my first bike in a year or so (going to try to save for it rather than relying on finance). I'm torn between:

    Kawasaki ER-6f
    [IMG]

    Ducati Monster 696
    [IMG]

    Kawasaki ER-6n
    [IMG]

I really want an 848 but as a first bike I think that would be a tad mental. :nono:

696, ducati really have the styling down on bikes ! Have you considered hondas offerings ?

If there's one thing I guarantee you'll do with your first bike - it's drop it at some point.

The 848 is a lovely lovely bike, but I don't fancy paying for those fairings.

Second hand Honda Hornet 600/900 is my recommendation - lower mileage the better - make sure it's not been owned by a dispatch rider.

I do love me a Ducati. :thumb: I haven't really looked at Hondas much - not because I'm ruling them out, I'm just not that familiar with their lower end bikes.

Yeah - don't see what's wrong with that. The ER-6's are frequently touted as good starter bikes for people who don't want to start with a moped. The 696 is the entry-level Monster, comfortable with good handling, low seat and not too much power (but enough).

Yeah I'm all too aware of that. :sigh: A friend's dad had his brand new 848 blow over in the wind in his driveway...repairs set him back about £850!
I've just taken a look at the Hornet - not a fan of the styling unfortunately, although other than that it looks like a great choice. The thing is, one of my main reasons for getting a bike is because I love the way they look and sound, so getting one I don't like the look of would kinda defeat the object. I am definitely looking at second hand bikes though, can't afford to buy new. Cheers for the advice! :)

Meh, there really aren't any aftermarket cans that look any good imho.
There are some which are passable but would require chopping off a lot of metal work / old hangers etc to make work properly.

Besides where else would I be able to sate my polishing OCD fetish :dremel:

As far as under-seat ones go, I agree. The low-boy style side exhausts great on the 1050s though IMO!
