Scratch Build – In Progress Project ZOE

Hi everyone!

I got first small batch of final photos for you. I decided to take final photos in several batches.. Next ones will be taken at Assembly Summer ´12. My place is there on the highest row so I'll have the whole arena and 2300+ computers as background.











System is all packed already, lets hope it survives trip to the LAN-party. And like I said more photos are coming.

Well planned and executed.
It's not as expressive as I'd like, but the first word that came to me was clean.
Nothing extraneous on this mod. I really like it.

 

This case is truly epic!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the contrast between the carbon fiber texture and plain metal!!!!!! How did you cut the aluminum panels? Was it all with a jigsaw? If so how do you manage to keep it straight? And how do you make the curves? I only used jigsaw once in my life when I was building a computer desk that would fit the tiny rented room that I was living in at that time and I couldn't make a single straight cut. Is there some kind of trick that makes it easier?

 

This has been fun to follow. too bad it is done.

The right blade, feed rate and a sharp blade.

EDIT: That's for a clean cut. I would say a strong hand and taking it slow. Using a guide is not cheating if you have to use one for cutting straight. You could use something straight like another piece of wood clamped to your workpiece at the right distance from your cut. Slide your jigsaw along it for a straight cut. Or buy a jigsaw guide for your brand/model jigsaw (expensive).

No special tricks.. I'm using very basic jigsaw, but a quality blade and steady hand - no guide. And like ferret141 said, remember to go slow, no need to hurry with cutting.

Zesti you know that you probably could make a living by selling those cases. It really looks insane. I just noticed the light detail in the front. What is it some kind of diode? It seems to have color gradient across it?
