I'd be thinking along the lines of representing one game from each of the popular engines that get used a lot, Unreal 3, Frostbite 2 etc.
I'd also request you keep a game from the last set so that people can see how much faster the new cards are than their old cards. For people upgrading, the difference between what they currently have and a new card is just as important as the new card compared to other new cards. bare in mind some people keep cards for a long time, alot of people I know still have GTX 260's and the like
I'm gonna buck the trend(s) and say X3 Terran Conflict. A fairly demanding game. Oh and another vote for Shogun 2
God damn it, I was just going to mention that. Damn you noiz! * shakes fist * They have a handy benchmark tool to make life even easier.
Yeah frame rates are unfortunately too inconsistent - GW2 ranges from 60fps to 15fps on my GTX580 depending upon how the game is feeling!
Racing games I don't really know of any that push a pc as most of them are limited in terms of FPS such as Need For Speed The Run which is locked to 30fps and won't go higher. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is the same, locked fps meaning you cannot get more than around 120fps on single player and 91fps on multiplayer, Black Op's 2 may change that but really given how poorly optimised Black Op's was I cannot see it being any different when you would struggle to get over 100fps, with a GTX 480 and a I7 950. The original Crysis should I think still be on the list, simply because it is still a demanding game and can still cripple a pc. Not sure about other games though as I mainly play Battlefield, Medal Of Honor, COD and Need For Speed games.
Another vote for Metro 2033 (seeing as Witcher 2 is already in). In game benchies tend to be sh!te though, don't they?* *my information could be a little outdated, here.
I like the idea of the X3 Terran Conflict Demo but isn't it pretty CPU limited these days? You'd need to run it at some pretty massive resolutions to get really taxing top end cards.
That's a fair point. Although higher resolution displays are becoming far more common place alongside top end cards.
I'm looking after the shop and doing other tasks such as hoovering and listing crap on Ebay I may or may not be actually doing said tasks lol
Likewise, it's only for a few days though until I get my grubby mitts back into the repairs. /off topic
