Ok so I need some metal recommendations! I am getting bored of I Killed the Prom Queen, Unearth, Sylosis etc... I need something heavier! I like technical metal, nothing too melodic like Cradle of Filth. Help me!
If you're into technical stuff then have you tried bands such as The Human Abstract, Periphery or Between the Buried and me? They are all pretty technical and heavy, and each with their own style, though it took me quite a few listens to get into some of their stuff so I could see why you might not be too keen on these but they are worth giving a go.
+1 to Between the buried and me.. other bands - Protest the Hero & The fall of troy (now disbanded) you may like.
:| Hang on let me just grab something from the demot thread. There. Unfortunately i can't offer anything of value to OP as i'm stuck in the 80s and 90s.
Between the Buried and Me is good, they DO get quite mellow and "core-ey", though. -that doesn't seem to bother you too much, though, seeing as you like Sylosis. The Black Dahlia Murder might hit all the right notes. Their Ritual album kills posers. As in: Posers appear -> A Shrine to Madness starts -> Posers die. It's THAT good. Others that might be worth trying: Obscura -> pure tech-death by the people behind Necrophagist. Don't let that put you off though, because it's GREAT Zonaria -> MeloDeath from swedenland... may or may nto be your cuppa. They're doing it for me lately. If you don't like the Gothenburg Sound, don't bother, though. Nile -> If you like it loud, may I suggest Ithyphallic (sp??) and Those whom the Gods detest as starting points. They don't really need an introduction beyond that. Decapitated ->They have their moments, though I prefer the newer stuff. Winds of Creation leaves me pretty cold. Allegaeon -> US Melo-tech-death-core-things-and-stuff. GREAT band, though I prefer their first album, Fragments of Form and Function, over their latest (Formshifter) release. let me know if you discover something cool...
Thanks BentAnat, I love the Black Dahlia Murder so I good that the other ones are also awesome! I will check them out when I get to work
Chimera might be a suggestion as well. Not quite my thing, but yeh. @Longweight - a wuick suggestion: read www.angrymetalguy.com regularly. I get 9/10 of my musical discoveries there....
If you have spotify, their radio mixes are pretty decent... (Once you've trained the hell out of it) - maybe worth a look if you're after discovering new music etc.
