Sup guys, been a while.. My problem today is that whilst watching some youtubes, my computer cut out, and now won't turn back on. There were no popping noises, no burning smell, no obvious damaged components inside.. Any suggestions on what to do? Is there an easy way to test my PSU? Cheers
Check fuse first. Then ideally crosscheck everything else with another computer. Id prob start with the psu if it is lifeless.
Yep plug fuse and check switch on the fuseboard in your house did'nt trip first then you can check your PSU by hotwiring green to black on the main 24pin atx with a paperclip or a bit of wire (dont worry you wont shock yourself) and see if there is any life in it.
Mmkay so I shorted the green to black and the fan started spinning, does that mean something more expensive has broken then?
Tried it, nothing happened. Guess it's time for a new board, shame this one only lasted about 3 months.
Disconnect everything that isn't required to boot, optical drives, hard drives, graphics card (assuming this is the system in the sig, connect the monitor to the motherboards I/O and pull the graphics card), also go to a single stick of ram and see if it posts.
Will do. I'm so cursed with computer problems, I've never gone more than 6 months without some catastrophe, is this normal? It's not like I'm not buying legit components.
WARRANTY EDIT: Seriously. Check all components in another pc that you can to try find the warranty issue, if it is one.

After much confusion and rage, it turns out having my speakers plugged in was the issue... All components are fine, just something must be shorted out in my amplifier.
Interesting - the amplifier is an external unit? I wouldn't have thought that that would affect the boot sequence.
Ah, the old amplifier feedback problem. Had a case like this at school. Big meaty amplifier shorted back up the line, completely frying the motherboard.
Troubleshooting everything is a given. If the board is borked and only 3 months old then it should be under warranty was my point. No need for the attitude!
This seems to be the case. I tried plugging the jack into my monitor and using an hdmi cable to send the audio through, but after a couple of hours it died again and what I did to fix it last time no longer works. Any idea what I can do about it? This is beyond frustrating :/
I remember installing windows on one pc. Once all was finished it wouldn't boot. I couldn't for the life of me figure why because I "knew" the cd-rom drive worked because I just finished installing windows with it. Long story short: Turns out, it was the cd-rom drive.
