I reacted to the link you provided, and to the stupidity of it :). In any other area, 95% of your own plan would be called a success. In investments, a 95% of a random number created by random analyst is a failure.

I think people just love to slate MS, tbh. Plenty of stories around along the lines of "MICROSOFT DROPS THE BALL IMMEDIATELY BEFORE VITAL WINDOWS 8 AND TABLET LAUNCH" or similar nonsense.

They've sold fewer copies of Windows 7 in the run up to the launch of a new OS? Really?! Shocking news.

That's what happens when you compare an OS that had pre-orders and one that didn't.

The best are analysts: "Microsoft is doomed, 0 innovation since Windows 95! OEMs are loosing confidence in Microsoft to push PC sales due to lack of innovation."

with Windows 8: "Microsoft is doomed, Windows 8 is different! OEM's aren't confident in Microsoft, because Windows 8 changed a bit the interface!"

Because you're kind of trolling. You're not even debating anymore; just posting doom 'n gloom links about how much fail Windows 8 is going to be, because you don't like it. Links to articles that e.g. spell doom for Mixrosoft because its $4.7 billion profit fell all of 0.5% short of some pie-in-the-sky predictions.

    Sad, dude.

    Greetings!
I like W8, I dont like Metro, Start Screen and Charms in a desktop PC, though.
As for posting articles "that spell doom", the rosier articles about W8 have already been posted.

    Edited:
    Doom not soom.

Microsoft is primarily a software company, Apple makes all kind of hardware. They're totally different companies so I've always found it strange that people compare their overall profits, rather than just those of the few divisions that compete directly.

Is this correct windows 8 will be £25 to download, if so that is defineteley worth the upgrade.

Should I buy MOH warfighter vs Win 8, hmmm I think win 8 is a clear winner. Long live the PC.:D

That is correct. From Oct 26 (official lunch of Win8) to Jan 31st, you can purchase Windows 8 as a download for only 40$ US, or your case, £25. If you really want the box and disk, you can purchase it in stores for 65$ (I don't know how much it will be in the U.K)

So yes, Windows 8 is really inexpensive (until Jan 31st, then its regular Windows price.. well not really its cheaper than Windows 7)

As a download only yes so not for everybody, As far as im aware you will need a USB stick to install windows from if you download it ( i personally already do this just alot quicker)

You can order the disk for an additional fee (15$ U.S/Canadian more I think, but don't quote me on this). Or you can burn the disk.

Basically what you'll download is a wizard, which will download Windows 8 ISO, and then you ask you if you which method you want your Windows 8 setup: USB flash drive, or DVD.
If you pick USB flash drive, it will format it, make it bootable, and extract the iso in it. If you pick DVD, it will burn the extracted ISO on the disk, and make it bootable.

This is how it looks for the Consumer Preview version. It may look different on the official version.

My only hope is that i will be able to put it on both - USB for install, and DVD for backup :worried:.

Nothing stops you re-running the wizard :)
But if you are talking about ordering the disk, AND get it download. That we have to see.

Nah, ordering a disk would be stupid. Well, we will see tomorow i think.

    Expensive self-gifting month incoming (Windows 8 for ~40e, Iconia W700 for ~900e, Mac Mini for ~600-1000e :D).
