    Hi guys
My dad has a pc that he uses as an htpc as a pvr mainly, he has an antec psu that is now making an horrible noise, due to fan bearings.what sort of thing should I be looking at for around 30 quid?
It is a triple core phenom and an amd entry level card so nothing too power hungry. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

I think a 430w Corsair Builder PSU should be enough?

I just saw a couple of offers on aria for an ocz 500w core xtreme and a cm elite 500.
I'll probably try to convince him to go for the corsair to be honest.

The Corsair CX430 is a mediocre CWT built unit. The XFX Core 450W however is a Seasonic M12II, what about that one?

The PSU is responsible for the health of all other components of the PC, get the best PSU quality you can buy

I know I should get as good as I can, hence the question, my dad didn't want to spend more than 30 quid really. I talked him into the corsair. I would have gone for the xfx but it was out of stock

With respect though, as I am not trying to start a massive debate here it is not always necessary to spend massive amounts on hardware to get something that is good enough for the job. He doesn't do gaming, or anything except using it to record and display recorded tv. The rest of the hardware in the machine is coming up to 5 years old I would think. If it were me I would have probably upgraded by now, but it does what it is required to do.
I could have tried to persuade him to spend more but really an entry level branded unit is plenty good enough for him.
