Based on the last 3 years, if Red Bull are fastest at race 1, it'll all be over by race 2, never mind Hungary.

They're easily the development kings at the moment, last year they took a car that couldn't get into Q3 at the beginning to both titles by the end.

RedBull looked very tough during both sessions and I think they were'nt even pushing it. Atleast the slomos in the corners showed no signs of any instabilities, so there's some room left I'd say.

Ferrari and Lotus will fight for 2-6, or 3-6 if Webber shows a strong performance. Mercedes didn't look too bad, but not overall.
McLaren is a real letdown and I expected more from them and Sauber wasn't as strong as expected either.

If it gets rainy, then Kimi might have the biggest advantage actually, as the Lotus looks quiet stable in the corners, but lacks speed on the straights.

Apologies if it has been posted before - I couldn't see it in the thread - but I found it briefly entertaining...

    Sniff Petrol's F1 2013 preview

There are two sh!ts and one F-bomb but, other than that, it's fairly safe for work viewing.

Well against my better judgement my FF1 team for the opener is:

Engine - Renault. simply because they have the most cars
    Teams - RBR / Mercedes
    Drivers - Finger / Kimi / Sutil / Ricciardo

probably going to regret most of those choices...

My team of Three Legged Donkeys has applied to join the mini-league.

Just added two more guys to the League. Y'all have 47 minutes to finalise your team.

@RedFlames - it's structured quite well in order to "force" compromise. Finger + Iceman is a good leading pair, not drastically different to BUT + ALO or any other top combo costing you 38 to 48 million. Success might be determined by the mid-field results, or the least-worst straggler.

Should be a fun race / season :)

Riccirdio is my 'can only afford a backmarker' choice... And Alonso was my original choice due to my intense dislike for Finger... was also tempted to swap Braceface for one of the newbies in order to accommodate Lotus as a team choice then decided against it...

Really I was torn between heart and head... head won...

    My 'Heart' Lineup was:

    E: Merc
    T: McLaren / Merc
    D: Button / Hamilton / Perez / Ricciardo

but after testing, even accounting for potential sandbagging... it wasn't looking the best set of choices...

I THINK Alonso could do well, but I'm prepared to sacrifice the points to *not* support him.

I dropped BUT this morning after FP form. Will have to see if I regret that decision, but that's half the fun :)

Never go for the heart option when there are bragging rights at stake!

I dearly want Button to do well, but I fear he is on the decline and could face the nightmarish possibility of being outperformed by Perez.

I would agree but I cannot sit there and wish Alonso a better result just to score myself points. I can't. I won't :p

It's OK, really. You'll never have to admit it to him personally. :thumb:

Only if by winning 100,000 Hilton Points means I can stay in a 5 star hotel, bump into him in the corridor and then kick him in the nuts :)

I feel that way towards Finger... FF1 aside, would love nothing better for both RBRs to conk out on the grid... Ferrari/Alonso just fill me with 'meh'

Well I have absolutely zero love for Ferrari, Alonso, RBR or Finga.

I have, however, completely whored myself on the Fantasy League.

If it was allowed, I'd set up a second team base purely on my preferred choices; just to see how badly I'd get mauled in the standings.
Certainly one of the most taciturn. ;)

I'd gone for my heart combinations, with a nod to winners, so Button/McLaren/Merc engines, all of which have been swapped out now.

Sutil will be a good buy I reckon, he's absolutely schooling PDR on the timesheets so far!

Well, qualifying was a non event. Almost literally. At least we should get dry running tomorrow so the top 16 should be a good indication of pace.

Wow, quite an afternoon of sport. 3 Rugby games, including a grand slam decider followed by qualifying and the first race of the season!

    I am a happy man!
