So looking at these results, 5GHz at 2560x1600 is getting the most out of Tri SLI. :)

Ahh, so it is a CPU limitation then - especially on the minimums!

Interestingly enough, the minimums are about the same as mine.

    Cheers for doing that!

No worries. :) I hope this doesn't mean I'm making you upgrade to X79? :D

    Very good review. +rep

One thing I have to ask you though: have you ever encountered microstuttering with 660s? (even when benchmarking with just two of them?)

As much as I would like to, I have to be sensible!
Not as far as I know - everything seems quite smooth.

    edit: reading comprehension

edit2: i'm only able to compare heaven 2.0 scores, as the other games you tested are somewhat old or not used in common benchmarks, but from what i can tell you'd have gotten more performance for less money (assuming you spent around £260 on each 660ti) if you bought two 7970s, ghz edition or not

plus, the advantages of running two cards instead of three are many

and 660tis only have a 192-bit memory interface... that's kinda low for a 2560x1600 res monitor. there's a reason why 660tis are only recommended for 1080p res gaming

    7970 numbers:

Yeah, but (looks side to side) AMD sucks! *runs out of thread laughing*

Seriously though, I like having PhysX support.

I agree, why do you think I got rid of my HD7970's...

On a laptop, they are flawless - Desktop, AMD do suck... If you disagree with me, then you only have to go read back through all my threads and posts regarding ATI/AMD, and you will see why. Nuff said! :)

And I had no problems with my CF 7970s

but hey, it's a tough debate to downgrade e-peen. tri SLI is tri SLI

    I'm not going to go into too much detail, but here's a couple of issues I had when running CFX;

Overclocking by even 1MHz resulted in horizontal tearing in 2D desktop.
Hitman Absolute, when running maxed out with 8xMSAA results in memory leak, to the point all VRAM was used up causing a slide show effect.
Need for speed shift 2 has flashing textures with CFX
Farcry 3 maxed out with 4 or 8xMSAA would produce over 60fps, but felt like 20fps.

And yet these games are meant to be optimised on AMD cards.

Nvidia is no angel either - Look at the problems I, and many others have had running Tomb Raider.

Now, I'm not here to dis peoples systems, as quite frankly, a single HD7970 is great. CFX still needs work, but it won't be long before they iron out these issues, then the real competion begins.:)
