Had a long-ass day yesterday and took a little trip to Geneva - 6am flight from Liverpool, back on the 6pm! Took in the motor show, then a spot of sight-seeing in the city. Ring taxi in the trade hall: New Viper: 208 T16: (tiny engine and box!) DS3 WRC + engine: Lambo Veneo: Mac P1: One of my only shots of the F70, crowded doesn't even begin to cover it! Pretty fugly too. The only (real) Delta at the show: Audi S2 Coupé in downtown Geneva: A lovely V12V (which sounded amazing): And the true wooden spoon, an AM Sygnet! Overall a worthwhile trip - I'll definitely go again in a year or two, although I'll be going during the week. Geneva is a nice place, although a little pricey even for a capital, and complicated when you're switching between two currencies!
Looks nice in the flesh - by the time I got to the stand it was absolutely rammed, being right next to Ferrari of course, but £50k for it seems steep.
That may or may not be the final price, it seems like they're hiking the initial prices for the launch version; the question is by how much. You would have to be mad spending £50k on a tiny mid-engined Alfa though, possibly the most impractical car in the world?
Suspect there is a Lambo Veneo hidden back at the factory in satin black - triple tailfin == next Batmobile!
No more impractical than a Cayman really. OTR price for the launch version is £52k +/- a couple of hundred quid for marketing apparently. Basically they've added options for ~£2k, so I'd expect the standard car to be £51kish, without the extras on the launch cars.
I totally glossed over the P1, and only spotted the Delta the first time round. Wasn't until the comments did I even go back to look at the P1. Delta and S2 please, not scared to hit a pot hole at 60 in either of those.
A few more that aren't just copy-pasted from a Peugeot-crazy forum. A1 Quattro in the trade hall: BMW i8 Concept: XFR-S in lairy blue with the huge spoiler: NSX concept: X-Bow-R: Bertone Rapide Shooting Brake: New 'vette: Lovely swan-mounted rear wing on the R8 LMS: New Mulsanne: Koenigsegg Agera R Centenary (yes, real gold in the carbon): Rolls Royce Wraith (check out the cool reverse-opening door, elegant): Alfa Gloria concept: A Range Rover Classic parked in Geneva - obviously had a complete rebuild a year or two ago and become some rich chap's winter hack. Absolutely immaculate apart from a little corrosion on the suspension components.
Very jealous of you Krikkit. Very nice photos, really want to see the battle of the P1 vs LaFerrari. That Lamborghini is a bit of a joke in my opinion. I would of much preferred to of seen the Gallardo replacement than that stupid Veneo. It looks like a kids toy/joke compared to the P1 and LaFerrari. Also the Aston Martin bertone rapide shooting brake isn't actually a shooting brake. As a shooting brake only has 2 doors. Also aren't shooting brakes usually estate cars? Like this Supposed to be good for having your guns in the back I was told.
Thanks, enjoyed it quite a lot! Just a shame it was so busy. Imo the Veneo is a very nice bit of kit - a totally outrageous, one-off special. It's not a competitor for the P1 and F70, but Lamborghini have pulled off a PR coup by showing it there. Ferrari and McLaren have been drip-feeding about their new cars for months, Lamborghini have dressed up the Aventador in an outrageous body and sold all examples (no doubt at near-cost, all those moulds and development time are very expensive), yet have managed to get their car almost as many column inches in these last few weeks as the others. On the Bertone, they did a 2-door version for strict adherence to the definition that was on the other half of the stand, but it doesn't look as good as that imo. The upcoming XF is a "shooting brake" too, despite having 5 doors, along with the CLS. Btw, something I did notice - the Agera has carbon wheels as well as everything else. Something I've not seen since the Lancia ECV.
Really nice pics Krikkit, jealously knows no bounds. That Lambo Veneo is monsterous, what a machine! And well spotted for a two door RR outside lol
