    UPDATE 2 - 15/03/13

    Hello guys been to long since an update, I have been working my socks off to keep a new customer of ours happy. Some of the deadlines have been extreme! :wallbash:
    I had alittle time last night to get the base of the radiator done.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    I know some of you will not like the size of the photos due to downloading and shizz so I apologize for that!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    Here are some photos, as they say.. A picture speaks a thousand words. :blush:

    This was an old 0.4mm drill bit that I broke, it still has two flutes on so I gave it ago on engraving the Raspberry Pi logo and project name. :D

    Things to be done to radiator block

    1. Machine the base to 10.0mm (Currently at 12.7mm)
    2. Tap the 8 holes to M3
    3. Take of the burrs with some P1000
    4. Gold plate it.

    The design did change for the layout of the radiator and RPi, so I thought this design would be more apparent. You will see when it all comes together!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    [IMG]

    I have been thinking of a plan for this, but for now I have to work on the acrylic top for the radiator! :thumb:

    Thanks guys and hope this keeps your interest in this project alive!

    Update 3 - 15/03/13

    I have been working on the top for the res/rad this afternoon, got some pictures for you.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    I taped the base plate with the M3 tap.

    [IMG]

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    Spent an hour polishing the block with some 600 and 1200 grit wet and dry.
    I have ordered some 1500, 2000, 2500 grit so will need some more hours spent on it.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The acrylic will be polished also.

    Hopefully have another update for you tomorrow at some point.

    Update 4 - 16/03/13

    Todays update consists of the following work being done, screws for the res/rad and the new designed waterblock.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    I have spent some time re sizing the photos for you guys.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    [IMG]

    The chuck on my lathe doesn't close tight enough for the M3 screw so I had to make a little holder for it.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The screws were to long so I need to cut them down to size.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The problem I had was the head of the screw was to big and as a result when I countersunk the acrylic top for the res/rad it would have cut through the side. So this is the why I turned the head down to 5.0mm.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    I tested a scrap piece of acrylic, I drilled down 1.8mm with a 5.0mm drill bit so the head would sit flush.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Started with the new designed waterblock.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Bandsawed the excess stock off.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    While that was cutting I spent alittle time sanding the acrylic with some 1200 grit.

    [IMG]

    That was all I got done today, shame because I wanted to machine some other bits and laser some RPi holders.. Not enough hours in the day! :wallbash:

    Thankyou again for you encouragement guys.

    Phame :)

    Yeah nor can I dude.. Thankyou dude! :)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    Update 5 - 19/03/13

    On this update I finished up the waterblock (re design) and the RPi holders.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

    The Pi Holders

    The holder for the Pi board also holds the pump, I had to tap the holder with a M1.6 tap so that the gap would clamp the pump body in place.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    I had lasered these out, stupidly not thinking about the connectors on the back of the Pi, I had to machine slots in to clear the solder on the back of the Pi.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The WaterBlock

    This was the second attempt at the block, as the first one was not really what I wanted in design aspect.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The Block and the Pi

    I finally gave in and bought one, I thought it would be better if I had it and could check it all fitted.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The block is not yet fixed on the the RPi as I need to tap the back of it to M3

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The last to shots are just teasers, I still need to spend yet more hours on the polishing blocks.

    Next update should have it nearly finished! :D
    (The last will be the plating)

    Thanks guys

    Phame :)

    Looking absolutely amazing! Wonderfully intricate machining.

    For comparison my pi sits shoved under my desk, completely bare next to the extension lead running 24/7. I might have to make a case for it soon :rolleyes:
