WARNING: CHARLIE DEMERJIAN http://semiaccurate.com/2013/05/13/...-gtx680-to-a-gtx770-with-a-simple-bios-flash/ 9800GTX all over again
Umm, excuse my slight stupidity but what was the stats before the bios update?? Because I have no idea what these numbers are..
Is it really worth it for 55mhz on the core; I presume the 770 will come with better ram as the 680 is rated at 1500.
Yep been looking in to it abit more, and it seems that you can get the name of the card to show up as anything aslong as you change it in the .ini file.
well it's disproven then, i'll edit the title i did stick a big charlie demerjian warning on the thread, my rear is covered
Ha! A well placed Charlie warning I love some of the bunkum stories that the tech press whip up around new hardware launches
http://semiaccurate.com/2010/02/17/nvidias-fermigtx480-broken-and-unfixable/ ...and mine is working great!
OR Why dont you just overclock the GTX680 a little bit and change the inf file within the bios so it reads GTX770??? Oh wait.. what did I just do there! Runs and mods the inf file on a GTX560ti BIOS and updates to this... OMG Its a GTX 770
This tempts me to rename my GTX670 into a GTX760Ti. Just for resale shenanigans. Or a GTX770LE. I kinda want to get a GTX770 cooler for my FTWs though.
Looks like both are playing the rebranding game to appease OEMs who don't understand that 12 month architecture cycles are a thing of the past. Also, love the Charlie Demerjian warning. That idiot wouldn't recognise unreleased chips if they were served to him with fish! Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
