Such a nice video, I'm definitely going to have to upgrade my rig to use a 4GB graphics card... or two.

I can see that my productivity is going to get completely obliterated when this game comes out.

 

Heh, it's what we call mid-range, but what the general public calls bloody expensive. I think the vast majority would have a heart attack to see that a GTX 780 costs £550 - that's as much as a whole computer for just a graphics card.

I do think that the requirements for SC will be more realistic than they are today, but there will still be lots of people not able to run it well.

My cash is going on a HOTAS stick I think, and pedals.

 

As an aside - Custom PC did a very good series of reviews this month on Graphics cards. They are now concentrating on playable frame-rates rather than maximum and minimum rates. The following cards did well;

GTX 770 2Gb
HD7970 3Gb
GTX 670 2Gb

It is worth a look if you're thinking of upgrading now.

 

I'd rather have a minimum of 60 fps at medium/high graphics settings rather than 24 - 30 fps on ultra.

 

I had a go on the Oculus Rift yesterday; made me feel really sick; so disappointed.

 

Yes, I am disappointed in you too.

Back in the time I had my own £950 HMD... It never once made me sick but from what I've read HMD's and 3d glasses seem to adversely affect some people. Also the Oculus has quite extensive calibration options for users. If you weren't able to go through those adjustments then that could have made it worse.






A friend of mine gets sick even without VR playing various games on his 2d monitor.

Said friend of mine can play CSS all day long and not spew...

Put him on the new Call of Juarez and he spews in minutes...

Other games too he complains about.

He said he was ok with Metro LL and Crysis 3 though.

Anyone else only got the 300i?

It’s the only ship I’ve got, and I’m thinking of upgrading to either the 315p on the 325a.

Now, the 315p has a upgraded engine and a tractor beam. I like the idea of the upgraded engine, but I’m not 100% sure what the tractor beam will be used for or how often. The 325a comes with a gauss rifle (mass ejection cannon) and missiles in addition to the standard lasers, but the engines remain unchanged.

My best mate has got the 315p, so I’m leaning towards the 325a as then we’d be a fairly balanced force, but I do like the idea of a faster engine.

Anyone else upgraded?

 

I think the only ship I have is the one I pledged for which is the RSI Constellation and I have absolutely no idea where that stands in the scheme of things. I haven't looked at the RSI site for a long time - it made my eyes hurt looking at it!

I am very much looking forward to the game though!

 

I'm sticking with my Freelancer, I don't want to spend anymore as it takes too much fun out of earning upgrades etc

 

Exactly my thoughts, but I wouldn't mind a small upgrade.

The only thing I really want now is a ship with an actual hanger. Corvette or similar I guess.

 

I find it amusing none of you have takeoff clearance to actually fly your ships.....

Well yeah, exactly. To be honest, I've covered all the bases I could possibly want with my ships, with the exception of a future corvette - fast fighter (325a), heavy fighter (Hornet), fast exploration (315p), odd-jobs (Freelancer) and cargo hauling (Constellation). Odd one out is the Aurora LX...not sure what to do with that one.
