Case Mod - In Progress The eYe 11-aug-2013 project finished

the 95% performance was done 1 year ago with that model.
i found the old thread on the system but unfortunataly the pics containing the graphs have disappeared. but this is what i found:
cooling systeem:
1x aquacomputer aquastream xt ultra
2x snelkoppelingen koolance vl4
1x aquacomputer flowmeter
2x phobia 1080 paralel. 36 fans total

end result was that i could get 4.5ghz with ek supreme hf most restrictive plate
and 4.4 with my old revision.
cpu was i7 2600k voltage unknown

and i must say that the old revision had some issues with being extremely restrictive, but that has been solved in this model.

for real figures i wil have to build a test rig which i currently dont have the time for.
so concrete data i cannot give atm, maybe i wil send one to a reviewer or something.

You're actually making your own blocks and I don't have to see those horrible annoying stupid circles?

update 10 the gpu block (copper part)
I had finished the mdf prototype and it fit nicely so now it is time to move on to the real deal:

milling with a 1mm 2f end mill to make the slots:

Just amazing dude, totally amazing. It's a shame MSI didn't hook you up with better hardware.

 

it's not the harware that makes a mod great, it's what you do with it

time for another update!

update 11 mdf mosfet prototype and copper base plate:
for the mosfet coolers I made again a prototype out of mdf and after some tries it fit nicely:

next I made the copper bottoms:




finally I made the Plexiglas tops, as you can see the top one connects directly to the cpu cooler.

 

Liking how you have joined the acrylic tubing, you have big cahonas my friend. I'd not be brave enough to try that.

I see now that you glued plexi tube into your blocks now. I thought you were using Tygon tubing and...possibly some kind of sexual lubricant and sealing using the tight fit.
I love what you have done on this project. It makes me realize I've been taking things too cautiously. I've missed out on some wonderful possibilities and I thank you for opening my eyes.

-Also, Holy mackerel! You must have milled away $90 of copper making that GPU block!

Edit: What kind of coolant are you using? I'm shopping for coolant I can use that doesn't stink.

 

it was only 15 euro copper, the coolant i use is emulsion cooling, here is the dutch site where i order it: https://www.damencnc.com/nl/gereedschappen/koeling---smering/378
probably you can find it in the uk or somewhere else to.

 

i would not reccomend people to design watercooling parts themselves, it is much more difficult than it looks and if you make a mistake most of the time you can buy new hardware because it wil get destroyed easily.

update 12 the Southbridge cooler and pipe work:
next on the list was the Southbridge cooler, I again made a prototype (no pictures this time) and after that I made the copper part:

next I made the plexi top for the Southbridge and did a part of the pipes to connect the Southbridge with the mosfet:




finally I connected the pipes form the top mosfet to the side mosfet making the circle complete:

as you can see it fits perfectly with the psu connector:





testing it with some fluid:

next up are the 7mm pipes to connect the ram cooler to a g1/4 port:

drying nicely in uv light( this makes the glue harden without creating bubbles or shrinkage of the glue.)

 

update 13 making the framework:
because the case will have a different shape than the original I had to make a extra frame on top of the original, this will consist of 2 L profiles on top of each other to give more strength and also making the new panels flush with the profiles.



after the alu part was done I began grinding the case in preparation of the glue (epoxy) this will glue the profiles to the original framework. also I did some mayor gutting of the case making it 60% lighter this is done to make place for the other components.

update 14 gpu block completed:
today I made the top part of the gpu block, nothing special but it has to be shown:

Getting better and better

 

That mod is impresssive, you are fearlessly sacrificing any kind of practicality/security for the esthetic.
The CPU cooler seems an epic idea(with it's risk though).But I have to ask the question that everyone seems to neglect, how the hell do you remove it once you have filled the loop?
BTW I am also curious of knowing if you do any kind of leak test before pooring coolang on your CPU.

 

the removing part is actually quite simple, you remove the water, remove the hoses and just blow on it to remove the last bit of water. once you have done that you turn the board on its back and remove the cpu cooler, most of the time there wil be only a very little drop clinging to the ihs which can be removed using a tissue.

ofcourse you cannot remove the cpu cooler with you loop stil filled.

leak testing i do via a pressure test(closing the exit with a stop and blowing on the other side, leaks are mostly spotted via that method. also you can verifie that the oring is positioned correctly just by looking at it from the top.

now for another update nothing to special today:
update 15 adjusting the fans:
because some panels with fans will be up to 15mm thick I have decided to change the fans so that the fans remain at a nice distance(same as would be with a 1mm thick sheet metal)



I will show you how I did the work, first I marked with a scratch pen where the cut should be, next I covered the part that shouldn't be cut with painters tape.

I put a old rotor cap of a broken fan on the coils so the cant be damaged

next I cut it with my jigsaw, the flat part with a small saw and the corners with a longer model, this enables you to cut I all the way round without hitting the rotor/coils.

then I cut around it to remove excess material that could block the view.

and finally the fans together with the side window:



update 16 getting some water-cooling parts
because I make almost every water-cooling part myself I only needed to buy some pumps, radiators and coolant making it much less expensive and more special

also I normally don't really like the braid type but because it is for a contest I bought some extenders for the gpu and the 24 pin connector.
also got some fittings for the reservoir:

the alphacool pump I will be using for the top window because it is small and low power, just what I need.




also no kudos to alphacool because when I asked if they could provide me with dimensions of the pump they simply refused, the *******s luckily I can measure them myself but that is not how it should be. it's not like I was asking for the complete design, just some measurements.
also I would not recommend the pump for real setups because it is quite noisy and not at all powerful.
