Sad day :-/ I'm almost out of 'Mon Savon Bol à Raser' and they dont sell this stuff around. I'll have to ask one of my french buddy to post me one tub oversea. P.s: Does anybody own a Morris & Forndran brush ? Where can I get one.
Looks like they sell Mon Savon Bol à Raser in the UK. Clicky. Would you like me to get you some and post it to you? As for the Morris & Forndran brush, I found this post (7th down) on a shaving forum:
Today I got a ninth shave with a vintage "Personna Super Platinum Chrome", I'm quite impressed by these blade since I usually get maximun 4-5 shaves out of a blade. For height shaves I used my Red Tip 1955 for the WTG and XTG pass and finished with my Wilkinson Sword Classic for the ATG. The Ninth shave was done only with my Merkur 34C. Soaps used: Cella, TOBS Avocado and Mon Savon au Lait.
I was gifted some Boots DE blades which seem either a bit smaller than the Wilkinson Sword's I used previously or they just aren't very sharp. I decided to get this sampler pack to as I've never explored different blades properly. I also needed new Skin Food as my Lime went out of date months ago but has lasted me ages so far!
I got a Straight Razor the other day for my birthday. My grandfather still had his old Strop (it's worn but extremely fine) as well as a hone which he gave me since no one he knew was interested in using it. He's begun to grow a beard in his old age; not sure he'll use them anytime soon. Sandalwood shaving soap. Never felt so manly. No one told me it'd quite so tricky to use. I got a few nicks, but i'll tell ya; i'll never go back to that mass-produced crap. I know we live in a society in which easy living is prized but why aren't more men shaving this way?
Time and effort and most cant be bothered but when you start to enjoy rather than think of it as a choir to be done
Indeed. I can see why i used to do it before; convenience and speed. This way is so much more pleasant. I have to take my time and the smoothness is so much nicer. Plus; it makes you feel like a real man.
I occasionally use a straight if i have plenty of time to take things really slow. I don't need to take a lot of time, it's just kinda nice once in a while. I rarely use a traditional type one, i prefer to use one with a replaceable blade as I have said before, my honing skills are somewhat lacking.
I had a shave done with a straight in a barber shop when i had a bit of a trim on my hair. I'd never had that before and I was just amazed at how close it was. I decided I must have one.
Nice one Nexxo I'm not a huge fan of the smell but I might like it yet. Is there a hint of mentol in it or is that just me?
It's just you loll I'm almost out of TOBS Avocado now, I think I'll try the Jermyn Street or the St-James.
