Spider-Man has 2 eyes, a real spider has a whole bunch. Wondering what the point is of having 8 eyes. I get the legs thing because there have been many times I have thought 6 to 8 legs would be great but never once have I thought about having more than 2 eyes.

Much better all round vision. With a single pair, your eyes are only looking in one direction at a time, with only a small part around the centre of the retina being in focus (the brain makes up most of what you think you see); with eight pairs, the spider is able to have a much wider field of view with more of that field in focus.

Spiders: scary but awesome :eeek: :D

I'm liking the idea of more than 2 eyes now. It's growing on me.

But where are they growing on you? Obviously, extra pairs of eyes on your bum would be fairly pointless (although they would alert you if Big Mike were trying to sneak up on you :eeek:)

Somehow I feel we are not going to get to the bottom of why the animated gif reminded me of bioshock.

I did mention the possibility of a survey. I guess some of you didn't take me seriously but I have conducted it now. I went out in my neighbourhood and waited for people to pass by. First were some teen kids who complained about the hot weather. I showed them the gif and asked them if it made them think of bioshock infinite?

They said no. I made them watch it again. Same reply. By the 3rd play one of them said yes.

Next was an old guy. I made him watch it then asked if it reminded him of bioshock infinite?

Well he asked if bioshock was some washing powder?

I said no and told him thanks anyway. He said its amazing what they can do with computers these days.

The final passers by were some mums in their teens pushing babies...

I showed them the gif and asked them if it reminded them of bioshock infinite?

One of them said what's that? I said its a game and then I told her how i found it really annoying to play. The other two girls were giggling. Then one said she thought her brother had it on his egg box. I asked them to watch it again and they still said no. It dint remind them of bioshock. One of the girls said it reminded her of some action movie in slow motion with vin diesel.

So the survey dint really go as well as I'd hoped.

    Stanley surveyed it.
    Many people look confused.
    Magnificent fail.

It's really clear that surveys just don't work.

Can Parge be moved to Basingstoke?

I have some work waiting for him there.

500 pages of documents needing his disapproval.

He will be paid for it of course.

Kids burst shops by filling them with rice and pouring in water; then standing back and laughing, while the bricks are ripped apart by the swelling food.

That could be like a giant pot rice. It almost makes me feel hungry.

Anyway... thanks for distracting me away from the subject people but I am back on track now and I have the answer. It has taken my all day to figure it out...

The reason I thought of Bioshock Infinite when I saw this gif... was because one of the things I used to do in the game is walk up to furniture and shoot vases of flowers and ornaments (and light-bulbs). They never broke... hence the trigger... the animated gif triggered the angry memory of vases and lightbulbs not breaking in bioshock.

So there you have it... the answer.
