I got stuff free. Nothing like free to make you feel happy.

I ordered some Heston by Waitrose burgers (lamb and cucumber) and they're going out of date in a couple of day's time. Now ASDA send me that chit all the fookin time and I have to phone up, complain and then wait for a refund.

Waitrose sent me an apology and said "Here, have them free.. If you don't want them you don't have to use them".

I know it's only £3.50 but the service is what you would expect from Waitrose. They call you by your surname when delivering (very politely I may add) and the service is great.

Not only that but I found out they sell veal (yeah yeah, I'm an unempathic SOB and veal is one of my weaknesses). It was only £2.90 for 200g (didn't want to risk any more given it was shoulder cuts) and they didn't have it. Booooo :(

So they sent me two New Zealand prime venison steaks worth £8.

Hurrah :D We shall be having those with our truffle mac and cheese by Heston :D

School this year isn't going to be too bad. My girlfriend's parents are much more accepting of me than I expected, and I've gotten so much free stuff lately that I can't complain.

Sure I don't sleep and I'll rage at video games, but I don't have a problem with life. Hell I've worked more than 99% of my friends in the last 7 years.

    Also Zenpencils. So damned good.

I'm on a maths summer school for a week at Oxford (see: UKMT) and so far it has been absolutely great! Lots of challenging yet intriguing maths. Today was an interesting look at data compression - certainly relevant in a computer world. Oh, not to mention excellent food service, good accommodation and perks like a boat trip down the river. Oxford is a beautiful city.

^That's cute. Where I work, peeps just be wondering in & out for *** / mobile phone breaks all the time if it isn't too busy; heck, the guy who is leaving at the end of the week spends more time outside smoking than he does inside working....

I have worked with people like that. I smoke and when I could smoke at work I only had one during a break or when I was walking from one building to another.

Being an engineer was fun for breaks when you wanted etc

I really just wanted an excuse to post the pic and couldn't find a more suitable thread.

I'm lucky that I can sort of have a break when I want, but my day is usually so busy a break constitutes a quick look on here and a general nose online...!

So according to the machines at the gym and the ancient outdated system that is BMI, I'm no longer overweight...

Sounds like I'm now due a week of curries and beer...

Julian ok not an Engineer in the context that you would say.

That. I spent four years working my ass off to be called an Engineer, and a further five to be able to call myself a Lawyer. The question is, though, can you be both?

Yeah, I know. I have had a fair few dealings with various legal people during my engineering (BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering in case anyone wants proof ;) ) for things like patents and other times when I have had to hit people with the legal stick for various shady shenanigans.
