It was many on many years ago in the UK. If only it was scientifically accurate like that other video. A rapist scrooge eventually breaking his neck on the gold pile would be much more entertaining that the actual show.

 

It did suck rather a lot, but was still fun..

 

Really nice pen style. What a shame he wastes it on an anime style though; he's squandering his talent. I used to draw manga all the time, then realised I can never do anything with it.

 

Squandering? Ha. That would usually be the case for a pubescent deviant art shut in...

But Kim Jung Gi is a well established and prolific illustrator.

 

I firmly disagree. While I do agree that the whole “manga style” is a bit overrated and overused (especially after spending a few years on deviantArt…), superani has mastered drawing this way. When reading one of Jean Giraud's comics, you don't ask yourself “What a waste of good talent on all this line-drawing-y comic stuff, why didn't he paint everything?”.
I'm 100% that if he forced himself to draw any other way his work wouldn't be as unique.

Besides, I don't think his works look very anime-like at all to be perfectly honest.

 

Kim Jung gi is awesome, there's no denying that.

I know that's true but when I see this sort of talent I always think " what if he drew something else?" The unfortunate thing about eastern comics like manhwa and manga are that the pay is awful unless you're incredibly popular; until they're extremely well established most of them make less than someone flipping burgers. That makes me think some of the more talented but less well known graphic artists should try other styles; a lot of them do it for years and still don't break out into chart toppers.

I like manga, far more than I like watching anime. I keep up with all of the big titles and even some of the webcomics like tower of god or DICE; but.. there's always a side of me as an artist that sees an amazing art style with a weak story, and thinks "why manga? Surely you would do better doing exhibitions or large, standalone pieces".
