I'm interested to hear from all the mysterious lurkers out there. The long standing members with two or three digit post counts. The members who used to prop up the bar, but now prefer to watch through the window. Those who have registered but never posted. Come in here and reveal yourselves, and celebrate your lurky goodness with a slice of cheesecake! Tell us why you don't post, and what we could do to change it. I want moaaaar members to really get into the forums here, we have a huge userbase but only a tiny number of posters and I want ANSWERS! ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°
I lurked without registering for maybe a year, so guess I've 'lurked' for around ten years. I go through phases of posting regularly, however now spend a lot of my time just browsing. I tend to read the serious discussion quite a bit, get wound up at some peoples naivety/stupidity and type out a long, ranting post, only to delete it in the interests of my own self-preservation.
I'd imagine as a copper (or ex-copper) you have to deal with more **** than normal on here, particularly in serious.
I don't have much to post about! I need to do some work on my PC but I need money first and that's going towards my new car to do her up a bit
You're forgiven, you sold me a nice keyboard once Nothing to post about? Nonsense - get some pics of the ride up and do a log of improvements. You'll get a ton of advice and encouragement on here as well.
Don't post much. If there is something I 'think' I know about and someone needs help I'll jump in. But, usually by the time I go to reply someone has posted the fix up already. Other than that I have bugger all to say
I still read most days, but I have little time to do anything of Bit-tech quality form the time being.
I suppose as soon as I involve myself in a thread I need to display a degree of dignity and impartiality, hence why I rarely get involved anymore! Thank God for the edit button.
You and a whole army of others. But you're one of my favourite disciples As long as every 50th post is of your long beard, I'll be happy. Your avatar makes you instantly recongisable when you grace us with your presence. It's always nice to have a keyboard enthusiast from back before it became a hipster pastime though. I've seen you attacked for your profession before, and from what I remember you've done a good job of defending what you stand for. But you can't win 'em all. Still, I'm sure you know that from real life
I'm generally quiet irl so it reflects on here too. I will jump in and help people on the tech support threads if I can though.
Your post count belies that: 1.77 posts a day isn't lurking! Yes, you qualify as a lurker with a post a week. But you are not unrecognisable on here cos you've been around a while now...
Same for me. There are some seriously bright, very talented and interesting people on this forum with faster typing fingers and more eloquent than I am. I usually get beaten to the punch. There are many threads I follow probably on a daily basis I just don't have anything particularly interesting to contribute. It's a great forum but as others have also said I'm quite quiet in real life and am for the most part happy to observe more than be in the thick of it.
