But the crap keeps piling up, so you either raise the ceiling until the whole building falls over under the weight of the crap, fail to raise the ceiling fast enough and suffer the poo-splosion regardless or face the problem and deal with the mess.

Of course politicians are so well known for their innate desire to face problems head on and prevent them affecting the next guy...

"We have to do this, for the sake of our children and our children's children"
Politician: "So, you're saying it won't effect us then?"
    ...
I do agree, I'm just say that some degree pragmatism is usually necessary even with the best intentions.

The main advancement in economics in the 30s was for people to stop thinking of the macro economy in terms of a household.

    ?

Managing the finances in the home is an important life skill that I see so many people struggling & failing with. Thinking beyond the home, makes no sense really, as you have no control over anything else beyond that anyway- government spending ( and indeed, waste ) is for the government to deal with- ordinary citizens can be concerned, but have no direct control as such.

Failing that, what is your point exactly?...

The point is that household spending =/= macroeconomics.

It's a ridiculously simplistic viewpoint on that note, and has absolutely no founding whatsoever.

    From the article:

"It was really annoying because the crowd stopped watching us. We had to turn the music off until the ambulance came and took him away,” disclosed the disgruntled musician.

What an absolute self absorbed d-bag.

I disagree- it is perfectly applicable. If you spend more than you earn, you are in the sh*t.

Obviously spending more than you earn is an issue. I do not debate that.

That silly little piece of paper does however fail to consider the cost of raising a ceiling vs. clearing the ****.

What's actually happening in terms of government is a bit of both, because there are significant, non-financial costs to doing even one or the other exclusively. That's why household budget =/= macroeconomics. The message that piece of paper purveys is distorted and ill-informed, thus reinforcing incorrect perspectives abount how government and national funding works. People believing it demotes me significantly.

Also, most households don't have their own army, which makes telling your creditors you're not going to pay up a bit different...
