Was it google translate, or did you just use a word that I had to look up? I hope you meant that as a joke. It would be sad to be a modder that couldn't use their hands.:(
Dremel case in the wild: Yes, that's how I find most of the cases for my tools too.

This is the first time I've seen stamped sheet used. -Awesome.:D

I dont use google translate, but maybe i should. :D
I dont know did i use a right word, but the truth is my fingers doesn't work these days as good as they worked earlier.

    I have a type 1-diapetes, got a diagnose nearly a year ago.
Thats not actually a big deal. The problem is that i had it for years without treatment, and that
did some damage to my veins. My fingers do work, but i can't keep anything in my hands over 10 minutes, after that my fingers become numb.

But thats not actually a big issue, i can live with that :)

^ I supposed to write also...

My intention is to use that stamped sheet for some other thingys too.
That previous mold was made from old ballbearing. I also have mold made from old ballvalve too. :D

    Update!!

So.. Its time get those antennas fitting better for this mod.

First, i took a piece of pipe and a bolt.

I welded the bolt with tig.. And cutted of the leftover.

It was time to do some sanding..

    After sanding i filed grooves..

Then i made this kind of little pieces with Dremel.

    And welded it.

And again i welded.. I just cant stop welding. :)

Then i ripped antennas to pieces.

And did some cabling.. Used leftover sleeving from Bitfenix Alchemy cables.

    Antennas placed.
Now you might get the idea, why i filed those grooves? They're with tight fitting and keep antennas in their place.

Some pics for getting some idea from the build so far..

(optical above the psu is just holding mb)

    Then i did some markings..

And cuts with Dremel and corner grinder.

    Bendings and test fitting..

    And finally some mesh.

Theres a optical drive for the "Recon-Player". But, before assembling it,
i want to make window to the drive.

Just one, good old "window in the optical drive lit with leds-mod"

Thanks for watching. I hope you liked! :)

you're really putting some effort into this and are doing great work... but just to give you a heads-up, you do realize that you just practically shielded those antennas off completely? there's a reason they're surrounded by non-conductive material ;) I can't imagine they'll work at all under that amount of metal.

I noticed that it would affect, i have done similar things earlier thou.
So i know it works.. in my home where the distances are quite short, so thats enough for me. :)

    Thanks for commenting infi.

Had to test it right away..

And infi was absolutely right. :( Thank you!! Strenght is weak, it works but poorly.

I need to fix that issue. But hey that's the reason why we have Dremels. :D
I make cuts to sides of the tubes and get something neat, non-conductive to cover the antennas.

    Edit:

    New plan for the antennas:

Excuse me for the uglynes of the drawing. It can be seen that paint is the most demanding drawing software i can handle. :)

These should work? What do you think?

    Edit..edit:

Or should i place the acrylic tube between those "antennas" wich i did earlier,
and use them as a support for the working one.

New antenna would be placed inside acrylic tube with led stripe.
That would nicely lit up the bottom also.

    Any thoughts?

heh, yeah expected as much, I'm not an RF expert, I just do a little bit of RC so I have just some basic knowledge, as it is important to have good reception there.

the slots should theoretically work as long as they are larger than the wavelength of the wlan iirc (which is the case I think) also the other solutions should work, but, ideally the antennas should be on top or somewhere "more outside" of the case, because the whole metal case still shields off a lot of it, I guess it will work nonetheless for shorter ranges, you'd have to try that, but I guess it will still work with them on the bottom.

I'm guessing both ways could work, but try out the acrylic tube mounting before cutting up those nice "bullets" you have going on there.

Also, when you say Dremel, while keeping in mind it's one of your sponsors, am I right that you are actually using a pneumatic "big-boy Dremel" for most of the fabrication (aka. vinku)? At least I wouldn't bother with a Dremel in an actual metal workshop :)

Thanks for answering. I think they would work nice enough in the bottom (option 2).
We have laptops in metal cabins at work, and wifi works nicely.
So i think that the case above antennas wouldn't do too much harm.

Yep. Noticed that writing in here too makes me try a little harder. :)

I'll do exactly as you said. :D

And with the "vinku" question or "juju" as we call it. In US they might call it inline die grinder.

Im using actually both of them, but mostly Dremel fortiflex, we have one of those at work and i have taken it for my own use. (dont tell anyone.)
Reason to use Dremel is that cutting disks for those pneumatic tools are too thick for my use. Dremels disk holder has thinner chuck than pneumatic one, and also pneumatic tools work much bigger rpm than Dremels disks can handle (safely)..

Rotary files for those pneumatic tools are too rough. Suitable files are with smaller chuck and doesn't fit those bigger machines... blaa..blaa So i use both of them, but i actually like that Dremel works better for me, even it doesn't have so much power than pneumatic ones.

And here is something for the project:

^ I did it with paint, and did best what i could. :duh:
Picture isn't in scale.. But it should show something from the idea in this case.

Motherboard tray will be attached to the frame with hinges, so motherboard with gfx and the cover for them, can be turned up.

The graphics card block in your sketch should be on the side facing the cpu. WiFi can give mixed results. I get crappy reception with a stock antenna sitting 7" from the router antenna.

iirc antennas being too close to each other is also bad for reception.

    Tiny update..

It Was time to cut the window for the optical drive.

Made a template from thicker sheet of steel and taped it to the top of the drive with masking tape.

    Did cuts... With Dremel..

    And took pictures..

After i have cutted and photographed enough, i filed the edges smooth...

    Bigger picture: http://imageshack.us/a/img36/8161/jqm4.jpg

    Placed the top back..

Then i made a simple cover for the front of the drive..
    Sanded and polished it..

    Then i attached everything together.

This will continue with leds etc.. But more from that after the paint from the Recon-Drive has been drained.

More pictures coming later today.. Thanks for watching.

    ..Continue..

First i cutted a piece of steel and did a hole for it.
Then i cutted right sized piece of mesh. And welded them together through the holes.
    (finnish word would be tulppahitsi)

Did some bendings and welded more stuff to the mesh.

Then i stamped this one, using same method than earlier.

    Did some cuts.. And more..

    Meanwhile i did some twisting..

Wanted to get four of these:

    Welded pair of them together..

And after that it was time to weld them to stamped and shaped part.

    Meanwhile.. again..

I did some shaping for the Bitfenix Spectre led-fan.

First i cutted off the top ring (or what it should be called)
Used a saw for that, its accurate and doesn't slip so easy.

    Did some Dremelwork..

    And polished it finally:

    It fits nicely..

And here it is. A front fan.. Later it will be bushing air to the Alphacool nexxos monsta 120x60mm Radiator

Dont mind the black paint in mesh, it will be removed and re-painted when the time is right.

    And with the lights on..

The weldings might be acceptable, but i don't like them. So ill cover them later.

    Thanks for watching.

I hope you enjoyed watching my bizarre visions. :D

This is some very cool stuff you've got going on! :thumb:

Excellent work on that fan controller hiding the DVD drive, I love it. I was curious if a slot-load DVD drive would work better, though?

    Thanks Mosquito!

Actually i have been thinking the same. :)

My laptop has a slot-load drive wich has a same manufacturer and its made exactly with same measures. So i have ordered samekind for this project.
When it arrives i just swap that windowed top to it.

The front fan looks fantastic, really nice when the fan leds are on.

Welding through holes is called plug welding if I'm not mistaken, so pretty much a straight translation from English to Finnish. Nice to see techniques that are primarily used in car manufacturing in a mod :thumb:

Also "cutted" -> "cut", but that's just nitpicking :hehe:

You're making great progress and again, it's really cool to have you back!
