Hi guys I need some help At the moment im running a quad triple an a dual rad..... Im using this to cool my i7 2600k which ive got overclocked to 4.6 an its folding 24/7 It is also coolin my 460 gtx with a gpu only block Thibg is I think its noisy...... So Wud the all in one coolers be good enough and quieter likr the corsair h80 An cud I mod one of these cooler to go on my gpu as well Wud this cool it as well as my current setup Thanks for the help
I don't know for sure on the H80 but Corsair rads tend to have medium to high fin density so are more suited to medium to high speed fans. As you're massively over radded running the fans at 500rpm or as slow as they'll go would cut down noise levels substantially providing they're not rads with high fin density like the Black Ice GTX or Stealth rads or some of the Koolance rads.
if I put the fans on controlers with temp sensors could I have some fans not running unless it warms up too much?
With that many fans you may be better with some manual speed controllers; there are several nice ones out there
currently with my i7 2600k at 4.4ghz an my 460gtx running at stock speeds these are both folding 24/7 cpu temp is 50c but I only have 2 fans on my triple...2 fans on my dual...an 3 fans on my quad...these I think are just runnin full speed
What fans? We may be able to suggest better and quieter ones. Also what is the make and model of each rad?
dual I don't know the make...about 25mm thick....I think they are 2 gentle typoons triple is an new alphacool all copper 25mm thick an again I think 2 gentle typoons quad is I think about 45-50mm thick not sure on make....ith 3 thermalright fans on
Gentle Typhoons are one of the better rad fans assuming they're the AP11, 14 or 15 albeit with an irritating whine. Put one of the GTs on the Alphacool rad so that has the full complement. Then with a fan controller turn down the fans to the slowest speeds and check temperatures. We know at least that the Alphacool is probably the ST30 which is 30mm thick is a good performer at all fan speeds and would be enough for the components you have. Do the fins on the other rads look dense compared to the Alphacool? If so then slow speed fans are pretty pointless as are the rads for quiet running.
the gentle typhoons are d1225c series... yes it is a st30... im getting a 480gtx with full cover water block.... so if I run rads for that could I get rid of the quad? an just run one loop?
The 480GTX increases your potential heat load for the GPU by about 100W. It's important to know the fin spacing (fins per inch or fpi) on the other rads before deciding whether to include them in the loop. As I mentioned before if they're high fpi then you won't get effective cooling with low speed fans. If you look at the system in my sig I'm heavily overadded and the temperature difference for the CPU under load is about 3-4ºC higher with the fans running at about 550rpm than with them running at 1400rpm so I rarely need to increase the fan speed.
I'd take the dual rad out of the loop, add fans to the quad and run the fans as slow as they'll go and check temps before deciding.
ok ill give it a go a min....if I can.... but what cheap case wud u suggest to put either a dual an triple in....or all 3??
What are you using at the moment? I don't think there is a cheap case that would fit a quad and triple rad. You could hang a rad off the back. I've just noticed that you said earlier that your CPU temp was 50ºC at load. That's well within spec so I'd see what the temps are like with slow speed fans on just the ST30 triple rad before deciding.
ive got an antec 300....all the rads are balanced on to of the case atm.... what case would be able to fit the triple an dual..... I was looking at the corsair 540.... but id have to lose the quad...
Try it with just the triple and slow speed fans and decide if you're happy with the temps before spending money. Also if the dual rad does have high fpi it's not going to be effective with slow speed fans. Although you might as well use the rads if you've got them spending extra money to accommodate them when you should have acceptable temperatures with just the triple doesn't make sense (unless you want to upgrade anyway).
so the triple rad ive got.....in theory is that enough to cool my 2600 running over clocked and a 480gtx?
just looking on my dual rad it says thermaltake.... ive put the fans on the triple now....still staying at 50c.. but the dual an quad are still connected but no fans running on them
In that case try a Fan controller or resisters and see what the temps are with the fans at slow speed. The Thermaltake is likely to be high fpi and if it's an older one is made from aluminium and is best filed in a bin.
