that side panel is the coolest thing ever, did you strip the LCD out of an old monitor? or can you buy them like that as-is somewhere

heh, depends on what kind of trouble we're talkin' :p

Yeah, I think I had answered that before, but it's out of an AOC USB powered monitor. There are transparent LCDs that you can buy, but everything I could find here was quite a bit more expensive than that. You could also just get an LCD panel and controller board, and do the same thing (remove the backlighting)

Thanks, I'm finding it a little easier to balance the black and white than I thought originally. Seems to be working out so far.

Due to some furnace work being required in my 2nd bedroom, I haven't had time to setup for final pictures yet... this will be the last teaser before I post final pictures, though. Promise! :D

    Final Photos

Well, time for some final photos. I will have a later update, once I’ve had a chance to get a video posted of the screen in action… Enjoy :)

I couldn’t bring myself to leave the blu-ray drive visible all the time.
For how little I actually use it, I liked hiding it this way :)

Mosquito, This is absolutely mind blowing! I can see how this sidepanel idea can go viral!!

Brilliant creativity and very talented work man.. Definitely something to be proud of!

Can you possible do some more videos with different ideas?

Thanks Keenan, this one was a lot of fun! More videos with different ideas? If I can come up with more good ones, and find the time/finances to do them, absolutely :thumb: That's what I love about this hobby, trying new things, and pushing the boundaries...

Absolutely man, with so many great modders out there it's hard to find something unique..

However, you have just proven it's not impossible!

Great job all round, give yourself a massive pat on the back!!

Sweet build! The black & white combo and the screen are very cool :) The GPU could use a white backplate though
