I can't wait either but the fiance is dragging me out for shopping/dinner with her friend. Maybe if I wine and dine them she won't ask me how much it cost...
Can't wait! I'm considering exchanging my 280x for the 290 if these reference cards perform like they should!
Yeah it must have been given it wasn't me. But I'm sure the mods will know that from looking at IP addresses.
Home at last. Time to get this sucker installed. All installed but no time to run benchies. Got some pictures and will run some benches tomorrow. At the moment, the noise is a non-issue. We'll see during some long, taxing game runs.
I'm looking forward to your review! What I'm interested in is performance over time. I don't suppose you could do a Heaven benchmark, leave it going for say at least half an hour and then doing another benchmark.
To answer your question. It depends. It's not faster no, but it has double the vram (given the 4gb is dedicated to one core and not split between two). It also has better memory bandwidth. What resolution do you run? if it's a big one it may be worth the switch.
What a ****. lol Soz. I don't mean it. I assume we'd be hoping that the new "fan profile fixed drivers" will ensure the performance remains roughly equal.
It's almost like he/she/person of intersex, has a job or life or something outside of the streams of text in this forum.
I'm very interested in your results, as I'm considering pulling the trigger on a pair of these. I would be putting them under water though, so many of the noted problems would be mitigated.
I have four 290X they are benching great so far in 11, Vantage, Heaven, FS and FSX. As drivers mature so are the cards with each revision. With stock cooler and ASUS bios 1200mhz Core is easily possible with a single GPU.
I do, but this is Bit-tech which has long been renowned as a place where fools are not suffered gladly. Long may it continue, else the place will just become another generic geek forum full of bitching and inhumanity. I come here for a chuckle and to draw upon the hive mind of fellow geeks, most of whom know far more than I do. Occasionally I even help if I can. But when every thread on a certain topic gets derailed by pettiness it gets boring fast, is disappointing, and makes the place look untidy. Oh, and I envy your job 8Pack
