I saw this on Flickr - that is a cracking shot, and the processing really amplifies the fantasy effect. Would you mind sharing your lighting setup and processing for this one? According to the Exif information you shot this just after 3:00 in the morning, so unless the timestamp is wonky my guess is that you shot this in a very dark forest with lots of controlled lighting.

Cornish Pasty Co just up North Street?? Always a long que out the door on a cold wintery day, Which always amazes me how it just goes across the entire road almost, haha. There's a cupcake shop?? I know i don't venture far away from Waitrose, but this i might have to investigate, haha.

The cupcake shop is up north street on the right hand side before the Cornish pasty shop... It is just past the O2 shop.. The red velvety are pretty good

That's the planar array radar version for AWACS use, right?

With it orientated that way, is that not an ASW aircraft?

Correct, although AEW (minus the 'C' for 'control') is more appropriate, as this helo only paints and cannot control the way an E-2 or E-3 can. There's only two crew - a pilot and a radar officer.
Haha, nope! That's just the stowed position. It unfolds for tracking and rotates at something like 6rpm (IIRC) for 360° coverage of air and land-based targets.

After a regular shoot we were walking back and passing though this area and I had an idea to do this magical forest shot.

    I used my Rokinon/Samyang 8mm
on my boss' 5d mark iii with Canon transmitter controlling two 600EX flashes on full power.

Underexposed the shot a lot, set to f22 or something very high.
The flashes you can see in the shot, one lighting her front while the second one is mostly for fun of having a flare + a little it bit of hair light (sun was good enough to light the back)

As for editing, I just cropped the black out of crop sensor lens being on a full frame. Sharpened, added some clarity and used photoshop to pop the colors/contrast a bit. Used lightroom 5's spot removal tool to remove the light stands and some annoying things around the trees.

Also underexposed the shot except the subject to make her standout. (especially noticeable on the floor of the forest)

Lastly I used Snapseed Vintage filter to get some blue tint

Here's the shot without much being done:

Cheers for the rundown! Seeing the uncropped image brings it all into focus now. I think it was the wide angle distortion that was throwing things off for me. For some reason I thought that the upper-left flare was a flash mounted in the trees in the background. It never dawned on me that it was actually in front of the model lighting her face! Crazy.

Just been out for the first time with my camera at night.

We were looking for the asteroid shower, but I decided to have a play with my camera.

I think...I've capture Jupiter. After some studying of star charts and aligning my picture. It's the bright one pretty much in the middle. Really impressed with the shots, considering I just set it to manual, and put it on a long'ish shutter speed and not much else. Going to do some research into how to get some better shots for next time, :D

Oh and what the planet looking thing in the bottom right corner is I have no idea, :D

Bright planet looking thing close to the horizon around sunset? I would guess Venus.

It's not shown on any of the star charts I've looked at though. Not showing in the sky on Google sky maps either. It was 10:45pm so long way past sunset too, :D I reckon it must have just been a bright star, and the movement has made it look larger.
