I got the EVGA reference blower version. It's not audible over an SP120 spinning at 1000rpm, even when gaming with the card at 70°C. Really chuffed with that
You know you're right, it is a terrible rendition of a potato. I'll take a pic of the K70 later, but I'm warning you now - it'll look like a K70 I'm not a man who meddles with keycaps.
thinking of adding a Prolimatech MK-26 Multi-VGA-Cooler and either 2x120mm or 2x140mm fans, does anybody no if it would fit into a corsair 500r case?
Twin Frozr IV on scan for pre order if anybody missed it. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-...gddr5-gpu-1007mhz-2560-streams-dport-dvi-hdmi
Overhauled my WC loop over Christmas and got the machine running well again after a catalogue of errors New rad and fans plus wider tubing leading to higher flow and its sweet. Now my temps are kept well in check and the system is probably able to cope with 4 cards in one loops Now even when mining full pelt 2 cards don't go over 40 on the cores, the hottest VRM is 55 that'll do this is even with the case closed water temp doesn't crack 30degC either, so this is what a working water cooling system should be like Now I can game with 290s without sweating
I'm just about to fit the waterblocks to my 290s this week. I only have two 360 radiators in the test bench though, so it could be interesting.
I thought for GPUs the rule of thumb was 240mm per GPU, especially with the heat kicked out by 290s. I will soon find out anyway. If my 360s aren't enough then the whole lot will be going into a 900D brimming with radiators.
thoughts on best place to buy a 290?? missed the pixmania, so currently scan seems best bet with a MSI one at £300 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-msi-radeon-r9-290-28nm-5000mhz-gddr5-gpu-947mhz-boost-1000mhz-2560-streams any cheaper than that?
Thought I'd run the bench before I put the rest in. 2x290s, doesn't seem much quicker than my old 680s I guess 1080p not allowing it to flex its muscle.
What do people use for overclocking etc. on r9 290, I currently use Afterburner but in XFire mode I cannot lower voltage in all cards just the first one, even with synchronize similar gpus set.
Just waiting for the waterblocks to arrive now so that it's actually usable without going deaf, haha.
The difference does seem small I've seen between 2300-2500 with 2 SLI 680s and I'd imagine my CPU is holding back scoring higher. Depends how much your overclocking them vs your 680s. There's not a huge dif in benches I've seen though with it been very game dependent between the. 2. Personally still waiting on maxwell.
Delighted with my R290 which I've just put under water. It's folding away to test stability on stock volts @ 1100/5400 and so far it's flying much better than my SLI GTX480s!!! I haven;t had a radeon since my 9800XT way back when
That is overclocked, my 680s also ran at beyond 770s speed though, both gpus managed ~18% OCs core and ~22% memOC funnily enough.
