I hate all kids except my own. It would be irresponsible to hate my own...

I'd rather have a dog then a child.

no 18 year contract, easier to look after, cheaper to feed and it doesn't ****ing hate you when it turns 15.

Shouldn't be saying that. What happens when you fall in love with a girl/woman/hideous slug monster and (accidentally) get her pregnant? You soon change your mind about the hating kids thing once you see one of your own spawn. I felt the same "I hate all kids, i'll never have any" thing until my first was born.

Still hate other people's kids. But having kids allows you to be massive douche about parenting when you know you're better. Like parents who educate their children to swear at the age of 3, or kids ho were never taught to chew with their mouth closed. You get a lovely sense of satisfaction when you know you're the better parent.

I'm also pretty sure people that say "id rather have a dog/cat/rabbit/hideous slug monster" than a child are terrified of commitment. Doesn't bode well for a relationship.

No. Some parents you see and you notice their child is doing or wearing something awesome. Like a child wearing a video game themed attire for example. You look at the father and theres a mutual moment of "aww yeah man".

Some parents are awful though. You look at them and their kids and wonder why they ever reproduced when they have a fricking 5 year old in a pram.

I went into town yesterday to post some stuff (that I sold on here) with my almost 3 year old daughter who was wearing a Belle dress (female character in Beauty and the Beast for those not in the Disneysphere) - I did briefly think people would think I was being irresponsible and fuelling her aspirations that she could be a princess too and you know what - I don't give a rats stinky poophole. In fact people working in shops and offices we walked past all smiled and waved and one nice old lady had a little chat with her. She has however spent the evening tonight since she got back from nursery calling me prince Eric (who is apparently the prince in the little mermaid - not that I knew this!)

Little girls are strange creatures - especially when they belong to you :duh:

^This. I only have four nieces but they confuse the hell out of me individually, all at once is way too much. My ten nephews are a different matter as those old enough are all gamers. The rest are just rough and tumble.

It's pretty much a done deal. My wife was pregnant years ago, well before I met her, got to 7 months then had problems which required the birth to be induced or lose them both. Unfortunately he wasn't strong enough to survive it. Docs have told her that there is a VERY high chance of it happening again if she tried again. That, coupled with her age (early 40s) mean the risk is too high.

Neither of us are interested in going that route, we have a nephew should we feel the need to babysit on occasion but we are going to stick with cats.

    And each other.

    +1

Watching their imagination effortlessly shaping their reality is just fascinating.

+1 again, I'm saddened to hear that. All too common unfortunately :(

    Demotivated.

Looking forward to several of those, expecting the majority to fail badly though....
