I'd recommend going into you Local Bike Shop and getting properly fitted for a saddle... 'sit bones' are different shapes and sizes for everyone so there isn't a single saddle that is comfy for everyone.

For a short commute a more padded 'touring' saddle would be more appropriate than a harder 'racing' saddle which is what comes on most road bikes by default.

Got a new bike after the one I've been steadily upgrading was stolen last on Wednesday. It's a lovely bike but I don't have the same attachment to it yet. :sigh:

I've been working on a nice project of late and I think I'm nearly finished. I'm going to strip it down again to clean it then I'll post a few pictures.

Little sneaky hint, it involves a pair of 1998 Pace RC36's.

Pretty much my thinking. I think my arse will wrap around most 'proper' saddles at the moment, not sit on them.

What he said :), there are a few rolling hills here and there but mostly flat compared to Margons territory.

Really poor video from a mobile but this is the rear light so far.

2 Lights below are Smarts R2s which are pretty bright anyway.

    Those lights look amazing.

I have been bitten by the building bug.

Got myself a new Subway Zero frame that I am going to make into a fixed/ss training bike... because fun mechanic times.

So I'm now in the market for as much fixed wheel parts as I can get my grubby mits on. I want to try and build it all for under £150, which is going to be quite the challenge.

Going to give it bullhorns and a carbon fork, which should look a bit mental...

With out testing it, should be around 1500-2000 lumens, the LEDs are being overdriven too 11v instead of the standard 7.4v.

Will upload some outside pics hopefully tomorrow, just gotta sea the front lens with some grease.

More than the Dinotte 400R and that's a super bright light!

    More you say?

Linkey - I pick it up tomorrow.

I want to stop driving to work, it costs too much in the way of fuel and is making me lazy. I have a road bike already, but for winter riding it's no good, plus I want to start cycling up on the hills and living in Somerset means I have some lovely hills to do just that.

From what I can find out, that light is using 2 XPG Reds I'm assuming XPG2s, the light we've built has 6 of them :) & running in overdrive.

    I've owned a Marin, can't complain they're good bikes :),

I'd go for risers on this frame, bullhorns are going to look a bit strange on a frame with a MTB geometry.
Carbon forks are gonna be tricky to find with your budget, but classifieds in cycling forums is your best bet...
Shows us pictures of the build!

It's a marin bolinas rigid hydro, went with marin on a recommendation from a mate. When I was looking at bikes there were some lovely Whyte bikes there! Just out of my budget though!

I foresee the carbon fork eating most of your budget. Take a look at pinkbike.com, you might find some bargains there.

I got a carbon fork last night for £33 inc. But I'd forgotten about pinkbike. Cheers for the heads up.

So far I have the budget sitting at £319 complete, and thats with £61 worth of items taken off an old GT Pro 24 (So £380 total).

I can reduce that cost by getting only the REAL basics, which means I can build it to a working state for about £279 but that means no breaks yet, which worries me a tad.

    Code:
    bike - Fixed mania wheels
Items	Costs	Sunk costs	Take from GT Pro 24
    Frame 21

    Forks 33
    Headset	20
    Bullhorns	15
    Tape	5

    Star nut	4
    spacers	8
    Stem 16

    Crankset	30
    Bottom Bracket	20
    Chain	5

    V brake 8
    Front Break	20
    Break levers 20

    wheels	100
    tyres
    inner tubes

    Seatpost	15
    Seat stay	8
    Saddle 15

    Pedals 17

    WOW these bikes look amazing.

Couldn't build one myself so I just will buy one pre-built.

Need to buy myself another one after my previous one was stolen out of the back garden.

Got a feeling your light might be a little too bright for anything except pulse/hyperconstant mode!
