Just started saving up for a true custom, 1-off brush with a handle made from pipe briar and a super dense silvertip knot. Got to get together about £150 plus a little extra for fuel as I would very much like to collect in person once it is done. Trying to think what sort of shape to go for now and whether I want any other little embellishments done.
That remind me that I'll need to purchase a new brush in a near future. I dropped my silvertip few months ago and a shunk of the handle came off. Sent from my Iphone
I know I have posted it before but this is the guy I am going to, I already have one of his and love it.
yeah, very cool brushes. Have you seen the price on some of the experimental ones, there's one in there for £250!!
Yeah, he posted up on FB when he got that farthing gold plated. He often posts up work in progress logs of the brushes he makes
Hello everyone, I was wondering where can I find the alum blocks?? I am planning to use my DE razor for the first time tomorrow as soon as I go to Wal-mart to get shaving soap and brush.
What's the name of the alum blocks so I can add it to my list of the manly shaving! lol Oh I live in Canada so try this. www.walmart.ca
Alum blocks are alum blocks really mate.. Just pick up a cheap one. What soap and brush are you getting?
Make sure you get a nice crystal block, not a cheap one that is basically compressed dust. G. F. Trumpers sell them, as does Taylor of Bond Street, but save yourself money and just buy an OSMA one, which is just as good. BTW here's my shaving pr0n:
And Those two are readily available at Walmart.. just need to look for them. Well that's the thing.. I am not sure where I can find that type of block here in town but I'll have to look.
just searched for that.. no results found on Walmart. So may have to go somewhere else for this.. Also tried Shoppers' Drug mart.. no results there as well..
In case you can't find one locally, get a Styptic. It's the same thing but you handle it like a pencil and apply where you cut yourself. BTW if you go in the first pages of this thread, you can find some good shaving tutorial on youtube. Remember, low pressure, a good prep and a good lather.
I agree with this. One more thing to remember is that you are reducing the amount of hair on your face, not removing it. When i started DE shaving i keep trying to get a BBS (baby butt smooth)shave and it resulted in a lot of irritation.
