Their green soap is good. I've never tried the white one but it's supposed to be good as well. Nothing wrong with keeping it cheap and buying the soap in Walmart though. :)

Id recommend spending a little more on the brush. Something like this will serve you better in the long run. maybe even get one in a few weeks?

EDIT: Here is a list of canada based e-tailers.

Italian Barber seems to be popular.

Yeah but I don't have credit card right now.. but I'll look those up. Thanks murraynt. And yeah I'll get a better brush but right now the one I'm looking at will serve me for a while.

Edit: The Copper Hat has paypal so that's quite handy if I want to order from them. So does Masc. That's quite handy.

Exactly. These days I'm doing a 4 passes shave (North to South, East to West, West to East and South to North) it procure me a more comfortable shave than the classic WTG, XTG, ATG.

Just shaved with my DE razor for the first time.. had some nicks here and there.. used the pencil.. HOLY CRAP! But I'm now a man with my razor :D. Used the Super-max in my tech.

Did 4 passes since I wasn't sure what's the right angle though.. Didn't go for speed.. took my sweet time..

I strongly suggest to master the 'With the grain' first, before trying the 'Across the grain' and 'Against the grain'. Go for what is comfortable for you :) Sometime I do a 4 pass shave, sometime a 3 passe or a Twice with the grain or With the grain + Against the grain. There is no rules, there is no 'That's how it's done', do what you want.

Keep practicing, you have to perfect razor that. The Tech is about the mildest thing you can get but also a great little razor.

I use the white Proraso and I can recommend it. It shaves nice, it smells nice but not overpowering and it has a nice, minty tingle on the skin. I finish off with Proraso aftershave. Those Italians know their stuff.

Birthday shaving gears. I managed to put my hands on a small stash of Aussie Gillette Super Stainless 1984 for the occasion :)

I have a metalwork lathe --I have visions of turning my own DE razor and shaving brush handles dancing through my head...
