Maybe I am nitpicking here, but....
no 4: Newton (1643 to 1727) , Pascal (1623 to 1662) and Einstein (1879 to 1955) did not live all at once, I can go along with the possibility of Newton and Pascal meeting up, but Newton was not really known until 1665 (the apple and all that), and that is 3 years after Pascal Died.
Einstein was born 152 years after Newton died...

The funniest part of the left wing part is the end - "Diplomacy & pacifism"... Uhm yeah, Obama, Putin, Kim's in North Korea - they are all role models of pacifism :).
On other side the right wing Merkel seems so militant and aggressive, right ? She forces poor Greeks to actually make reforms in exchange for german money :D.

Left, Family: "Relationship built on respect and trust", "Nurturing love"
Right, Family: "Relationship built on respect and fear", "Tough love"

It literally says that right wing parents don't love their children as much as left wing parents. I'd call that a bit skewed in favor of the left.

Not that I agree with the republicans in the USA (quite the opposite actually), but this chart definitely does not draw a fair comparison.

What it shows to me is that both sides appear to hold inherently contradictory values. Humans, eh? :D

It refers to the Ocal (base-8) and Decimal (base-10) number systems.
    totally obscure and barely used.

I don't want to take the position of defending the chart, but I think it's a fairly decent description of political and social values, though it is very US based.

As for child rearing practices, I think this is a difference between the values that parents on the left and right try to instill in their children. It's not to say that one side loves their kids any less, but rather that the parents think different things are most important to pass on. Conservative parents are more likely to try to instill toughness, respect for authority, and common sense, whereas more liberal leaning parents are more likely to try to teach their kids tolerance, respect for differences, and creativity. Both sides what their kids to succeed, but I think the definition of success is different. Conservative parents see a successful person as hardworking achievement oriented and successful working within a system, whereas the other side is more likely to feel like they have been good parents if their kids find a fulfilling career that is perhaps lower achieving or non-traditional.

I used to have a friend who was a world class rock and ice climber, one of perhaps the top 100 in the world, he was on the cover of climbing magazine and made a decent living as an instructor and guide, as well as doing sponsored climbs all over the world. Despite his success at his chosen profession, his parents still frequently asked him "When are you going to get a real job". It wasn't that they didn't love him, but they defined success in terms of "normal" achievement and he wasn't living up to their expectations that way.

Because I support about half of what either side stands for and oppose the other half. The split in some areas seems arbitrary to me. I find both packages rather unappealing. I also object to the idea that if I believe or support "A" then I must also believe and support "B". I understand that it's the common perception in the USA but frankly I think it's just silly even there.

The test here: http://www.politicalcompass.org is at least a little better. Even at that I see a few things that could be classified differently.

And this is why SOME people should never be allowed to breed...

@Suicide; That is simultaneously motivational and demotivational, but it's just another way of saying how horrifyingly monstrous we really are.
