Yes, a joke that isn't funny anymore. Interestingly I was re-watching an episode from Season 3 of Top Gear the other day (circa 2003) and Jeremy absolutely loved the Porsche 911 (996) GT3. They must have started the joke a few years later.

Well part 1 was pretty good. Almost like a documentary, with very limited artificial cocking about. Can't wait for part 2. :)

I found last night's episode fairly boring if I'm honest. It could have been one of any number of other special's they've done in a different location.

I'm not sure I'll be watching TG next season, the fleeting moments of quality viewing seem to be fewer and fewer between the painfully forced "comedy" scenes or just generally the three of them being idiots.

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

I found there to be a lot of staged jokes and comedy moments, such as 'accidentally' driving down the narrow streets or 'running out of fuel' so they had to ride on horse back, or Jezza needing to load 4 tons of crap into the back of his lorry & then dumping it in the middle of the road later on- they could easily have just stuck to the main routes and had just as many hair-raising moments given how crazy the roads are out there, and indeed they did. Still enjoyable, I just don't see the need to invent so many silly moments that are obviously scripted. When they get it right, TG is just brilliant...

I feel like anything that may not have been scripted, or any genuinely hair-raising moment gets lost in the ether when there's so many staged bits. I'm almost pre-emptively rolling my eyes when Clarkson's narrative comes on with a "But then this happened..." or something of the sort.

Agreed. Some childish humour but I found it hilarious. Great work Top Gear.

Taking those trucks across the bridge looked genuinely terrifying.

You didn't spot the steel subframe under the bamboo facade then? Was enjoying it up until that point.

Ditto, sad to realise the whole thing was essentially a set up- government was building a bridge, so the TopGear boys came along and helped decorate it with some bamboo screens over the whole thing which conveniently got crushed as they drove over it, making it seem like the bridge might genuinely fall to bits. /captain obvious

Still, great road trip and breath taking scenery.

Nope didn't see that, but I was watching it windowed on my PC whilst doing some work. Kinda takes the shine off it.

You know, I was looking for it, but missed it - have to watch the crossing bit again.

Seem's they are in trouble for last nights episode, when they looked at the bridge and said it had a slope on it, papers say it was racial slur and they were referring to the man crossing it. I didn't pick up on it, but there are a number of people angry about it.

Jezza is also in bother for tweeting a thanks to the film crew and saying "have a black cock" on me, which was a reference to the drinks they had, but again people are getting their knickers in a twist.

I did wonder about if they used one of those extendable army bridges, and wondered the reason behind the loosely attached sides, but I tend to just watch TG for what it is now, light entertainment.

You can utter anything on TV and someone will be offended.

I might start complaining every time the word "the" is used on TV as it 'offends' me.

Wait, and slope is/was a racial slur?!

Not sure if you're serious there.

I always thought it referred to the shape of an Asians eyes, but urban dictionary has it as:

A derogatory term for people of Asian decent. It is an acronym for Silly Little Opium Peddling Easterner.
